I share digitized voice test carried out by our teammate fox cunning, excellent work

Amilgi

Ah I think found what was off - the first three notes were a bit early.
Since we were able to implement a limited version of pitch slides I also added one instead of the multiple notes I had originally (which might have been what you were noting)
Hopefully this sounds closer. Playing it overtop the original lead this is nearly 1:1.

I might talk with Sebastian on the status of SFII Deluxe, because I too would like to see it released, even if it's not perfect. Can always make an update later if needed.

Quote from: Fox Cunning on July 18, 2023, 11:49:06 AMAmilgi is correct. Most sound effects in that video are leftover from the old engine, and do interfere with the pitch envelopes used in the music.

I think I managed to fix that bug, by the way. It was (unsurprisingly) in a piece of the old engine that I had kept.
Sound effects should not mess up the music pitch now.

Excellent news, our teammate, he made the Uppercuts work

Great job Fox Cunning!!!

Sorry I didn't answer you before, after making a query I have come to the conclusion that the best way to communicate a difference in a musical theme is overcome shame and hum it. But first I'm going to put a video to point out the point of the variation to locate it in time. Shadow Priest kicks the moment.

Now I upload the files humming the songs, first the original Mega Drive:

And here I hum that excerpt from the song you're composing for NES:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aQ3fDJteuA5YR2qU_pc0h2CYsjlYT8mS/view?usp=drive_link

It is shorter, certainly not very noticeable, but two notes less. Anyway I don't want to bother with the matter, I understand that there are other priorities and a lot of work in this game.

On the subject of Street Fighter II Deluxe for NES, I would be very excited to reactivate the project, I have a well-known person who argues that it does not make sense to bring this genre of games to 8-bit systems, however I do think it is necessary, first because it is a challenge, and second because when people accumulate years,  They seek more simplicity and essence. That in video games is given to you by the 8bits.

@drax01  It is an important achievement, without uppercut, an MK is less MK. Congratulations.

Can't access your humming files but I think I found it!
Turns out there's a channel on the Genesis that goes unused for the whole song...except to play that one note! No wonder I wasn't hearing it when isolating the lead... :banghead:
Admittedly I haven't played much MK so I don't have the same level of nuanced familiarity with the music others might, so I appreciate people catching details like this.

Third time's the charm?

And since we've already shown off most of the music at this point, here's an .nsf export of the latest FamiTracker module (for both MKI & MKII) for people to listen to:

Amilgi, can you send me a google drive nsf to listen to the music?

TheBoxGamePL

but it's nice to hear it completely differently in swap duty cycles ;D

Congratulations on the new project, you are doing an incredible job, it is amazing that you are able to get such a good sound out of the NES!

Flaviogames

would it be possible to add screams and voices of spells like Raiden for example? :)

I have crammed as many samples as I could without changing the mapper (and I believe we are going to keep everything within 3 Megabits).
That said, at some point we will probably recompress some of the samples. If the quality doesn't degrade too much, then we may have a bit of extra space for more.

The Palace Gates stage needs some work as there are IRQ timing issues, but we'll get it fixed ;D

This is moving very fast, congratulations.

We don't know yet, "Fox Cunning" has made a checklist of tasks to do. I am not going to say anything at the moment on this subject.

I have adjusted the timing on that stage, and it's almost glitch-free now.
