CrystalTile2 crashes when I open any nds file

Hi! I've been trying to find a way to edit text in Sonic Rush for a translation I'm thinking of doing. From what I can tell, CrystalTile2 seems to be the tool for the job (if I could only get it working). Whenever I try to open the Sonic Rush rom, or any other ds rom, CT2 just stops responding and then crashes. I haven't found anyone else having this issue, so I would appreciate any insight. Thanks!

(alternatively, if someone has a suggestion about a different/better tool to use for this, I'm all ears)
