Majora's Mask Redux causing signal loss when playing on Everdrive 64

N64 is NTSC and has been in my possession since 1997. Expansion Pak is (ostensibly) OEM but was purchased recently from eBay. Everdrive 64 X7 is brand new from krikzz.com and running latest OS, self-tests all pass OK.

Randomly during gameplay, I lose signal and never recover. Pressing RESET doesn't help -- I have to fully power cycle. No return to title screen, no hang beforehand.

I've encountered this crash:
- interacting with an Owl Statue
- teleporting out of the Butler's victory room
- watching Anju leave through the door of her grandmother's room

I've found a Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/n64/comments/q3offz/can_the_redux_patch_for_ocarina_of_time_run_on_an/) and a forum post (https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=31316.0)  in which people can vouch for having played OoT and MM Redux edition on their Everdrives. I don't find any mention of crashing/signal loss in these threads.

Any ideas what might be going wrong? Every other ROM hack I've tried has performed flawlessly.

I think my issue was the Expansion Pak overheating.

A Reddit thread led me to disassemble my Pak where I discovered the thermal pad was very dry and no longer adhering to the memory chip. I replaced the pad and added a bit of thermal paste for good measure and have since played multiple Majora's Mask sessions (several hours each) with no crashes.

Didn't know that was a thing for official ones. My third party one overheats since it was new (to me)... memories of Perfect Dark sessions with a bag of ice on top and in Majora's the screen would turn a different aspect ratio and could not save so it was a bit of a gamble on whether to save or try to push forward.
