Somebody alert me when a user friendly BS Zelda hacking tool is made. I will give my soul to work on a faithful SNES remake of Zelda 1.

This is looking really smooth, I dig the Chain Chomp.

That looks cool, and the battle mode reminds me of Strange Mario Bros. 3

Thanks man, actually it's pretty much a 1 man show on this project.  I've been working on it for atleast 6 years now.  It's my first rom hack I've ever done and so I have to learn as I go which makes things a lot more difficult.  Besides a few things I've had help with some ASM coding ,but other than that I have done everything in this hack myself.

Tiles on those original screenshots are messed up, this can't be the real thing.

wanna bet? what makes you think it can't be the real thing? those screenshots on the left are as if my levels were ported to the vanilla rom and I played the levels that way, and just so you know those messed up graphics are just unused tiles in the original game. SMB3 is a very messy game you'd be surprised how many funky looking tiles there are hidden away for no one to see.  tell me about it.. I was just as shocked as you were when I realized how shitty my favorite childhood game was.  Also the very first screenshot on the left is the desert set right? those green ground platforms are left and right horizontal pipes just ones you cannot enter because it's too easy to clip into the corner of a tile and boom you would be sent to the next room.  So I know you can't really see they are the horizontal pipes, but let me tell you those horizontal pipes were not used in the desert levels at all in the original game, so they have glitched graphics.  Your a believer now huh. Sorry If I came off snappy or rude at the beginning of this message wasn't trying to be.

There are lots of clever reuses of existing objects/metatiles in those screenshots! This feels more like SMB3 would have looked had it been released a few years later, alongside games like Kirby's Adventure.

Thanks man, ya I was hesitant to show these comparison screenshots cuz it gives away my secret in how I make my levels for SMB3, but then I thought people would appreciate it more maybe after they see how it's made.

Comparison Showing Original graphics on the left and modified on the right.  The modified screenshot is of the Plains 1 object set and
Yes those graphics in the left screenshot are unused tiles within the original rom.
