Is there an easy mode for Super Lugi RPG?

I tried playing Super Luigi RPG Star Powered it and I didn't get far. The first optional fight summons a boss which immediately kills you after the battle, and the first non-optional fight, well I at least think you win if you block everything, but I'm not sure because I'm not good enough at the game to block every single attack. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

If you there's no way to make the game easier, can you please recommend a Super Mario RPG hack that changes a lot in the game, but isn't this hard?

ALso, I looked for a video walkthrough for this game but I can't find one that's very high quality. All I could find was one with bad audio, and a bunch of vods with people on screen.
