Final Fantasy III Tweaks
v2.0

Hello everyone!

I started to work on a new hack that will be called "Final Fantasy III NES Tweaks".
The purpose it's to provide the original experience without some problems like the lack of a B-button dash, some useless commands, the fact that there it's no way to get Phoenix Downs even at the end of the game, or the lack of a Black Magic user other than the Black Mage at mid-game.

If you have any suggestion to improve the game let me know in the replies.

Interesting! Which translation are you basing it off of? I'm partial to AWJ and co.'s but I think most people would be using Chaos Rush's.
Check out and discuss my projects

Optional Double Rewards Patch?

DavidtheIdeaMan

Think you can make the Black & White magic more useful & have some classes more useful commands?

You mean increasing the spell power?
Quote& have some classes more useful commands?
I'm working on that. :thumbsup:

It would be a nice addition. I'll start to work on it after I release the v1.0 .  :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I'm using the translation made by Alex W. Jackson, Neill Corlett, and SoM2Freak because most patches I'll use for this hack only work with that translation, and I heard that it's better than Chaos Rush's one.
But maybe I edit the name of some commands and jobs (Ranger instead of Hunter and Focus instead of Build up).  :thumbsup:

Yes the spell power because they were not that strong & made them useless

I'll buff the following spells:

  • Flare: 200 -> 220
  • Meteo: 180 -> 200
  • Holy: 160 -> 180
  • Cure4: 220 -> 250
  • Haste: 16% -> 20%

DavidtheIdeaMan

Glad to hear it,now White & Black Mage won't be useless anymore,plus I am curious if the name of the spells will be renamed or if the different classes will have access to more weapons & items like in the DS remake?

I´ll rename some jobs like the "Hunter" to "Ranger" and "Warlock" to "Magus".

I guess I'll make the Warriors able to equip the W.Slayer (The sword that only Red Mages can equip at the start of the game) and make the white mages able to equip bows instead of the black mages.

DavidtheIdeaMan

Good,good.

I hope some of the classes gain more useful equipment as well.

Do you plan on weakening Ninja and Sage so they don't make every other class in the game obsolete?
In memory of my beloved cats, Anastasia (9/30/06-9/18/17, illness) and Josephine (1/19/06-9/23/17, cancer).
My mods: Romance of the Three Kingdoms II, Gemfire, 7th Saga, and more

Maybe I do a separate patch for that, some players (like me) liked the two ninjas two sages final team, but other prefer a custom team.  :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Mange to do all the changes planned with the exception of the optional patches.  :woot!: :thumbsup:

I'll test until the part were you get the second set of jobs just in case.

Done but needs testing.  :thumbsup:

Have you looked at Maeson's hack? It made a lot of really interesting changes. I liked him making it so you have unlimited arrows helps the bow users out immensely. And it's even in the Pixel Remaster so it's "canon".

Are you planning on making the bard less useless?  :'( sometimes I wonder why I like to use difficult jobs.

I'll boost their stats and maybe buff the harps.  :thumbsup:

I guess it's not a bad idea to make arrows unlimited, I remember that when I first played the game I ran out of arrows at Castle Hein rendering my ranger useless.
Maybe I can also replace some chests that contained arrows with something else.
Also, I'll use a bugfix from Maeson's hack.

I have an idea,not give the white mage class the ability to wield Hammers like they did in FF1 on the Nes?

T29

The v1.1 it's almost done, I'm currently buffing the terrain spells of the Geomancer.

Maybe it would be better for the Devouts, because by the time you get hammers the White Mages are outdated.

Every Harp has now the double of attack power and:

  • Madora Harp now inflicts a sleep.
  • Lamia Harp now inflicts confusion.
  • Loki Harp now infilcts paralysis.
I also buffed the bard job a little bit.  :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I have an issue about the b-button dash. NPCs that follow you (fifth party members one could say) do not walk one tile behind you. Rather, they seem to do some pathing calculation due to occasionally lollygagging behind you a step or two now and then. With this patch, it becomes very... janky, as they'll wander through walls and get stuck on wall- (and screen-) walking behaviors that is rather immersion-breaking. So do you know to fix this?
