Great! Im eager to download it when it's uploaded. :)
 :woot!:

Have you considered increasing the item limit? 32 item slots makes changing jobs quite annoying, it annoys me more than the Capacity Points tbh.

That would need asm so I'll leave it for later.

This looks promising!

One thing I don't like, as someone who like to optimise my gameplay, is that jobs are emphasized during the entirety of the game, but in the end, the secret jobs, ninja and sage, dwarve all the other jobs and are recommended for the final team. Would you consider rebalance the jobs in order to give a chance to the other jobs?

You mean being able to use even the old jobs (Dragoon, Viking, Knight, Ranger, Red Mage, Thief) at the end of the game?

Lumiere

I think Zimgeif is talking about that fact that unlike most of the game where you still have use for earlier jobs/still viable, once the Ninja & Sage are obtained all the other jobs are irrelevant. Stuff like the Dragoon, Viking, Knight, Ranger, Mystic Knight & some of the mage classes should still be good enough to finish the game without shooting your self in the foot.

Red Soul

I don't know if this is planned, but it would be great if the the balance changes from later ports were incorporated here in some capacity.

I agree with Zingief in that Ninja and Sage completely overshadows the rest of the jobs and this makes variety and party composition freedoms take a crippling nosedive.

I'm actually improving some jobs based on the PR version (like the Viking.)
About the second one, I'll try to make them job-level up faster so they are powerful even at the end and maybe buff some weapons for them (like the Dream Harp and the Holy Lance).

I guess I'll buff them as folows:
Red mage: More magic and more late-game weapons to equip.
Ranger: Better strenght and bows at late-game.
Knight: Job-level up faster.
Geomancer and Scholar: Buff books, bells, and terrain.
Thief: Buff Knives and add better items to steal.
Dragoon: Buff Holy Lance.
Viking: Buff Hammers and turn him into a thank.
M. Knight: Better access to magic.
Bard: Add Dream harp as his ultimate weapon.
Bl.Belt: Increase his strenght.
Devout, Magus, and Summoner: Buff their magic stats.

The rest of the jobs are already outclassed (Fighter -> Knight and M. Knight, White Mage -> Devout, Black Mage -> Magus, Monk -> Bl.Belt, Evoker -> Summoner.) by this point.

Red Soul

This is quite excellent. Now we only need a Mesen graphics replacement pack to go with it, haha.

Maybe I manage to create it in the future  , it would be extremely nice to have record keeper-like graphics on this game.

Also, I'll turn the M.Knight into a Black Mage + Knight fighter (like the Man In Black from FF IV TAY and the Ninja from FF I.) [It's weird that someone that uses Dark Blades and equipment also uses white magic].

Sakura77

Thieves definately need better items to steal. Even in the later ports, there isn't that much worth keeping a thief around for. I liked IX's approach where "rare" items are the next upgrade tier for some character(class).

Are Rangers keeping their white magic? If they are, then maybe treat the M. Knight and Ranger as better fighters than the Red Mage but, worse magic-wise? Maybe top out at Tier 5 but, fewer charges?

I doubt it is possible, but can summoners have both summon and evoker's magic? If the evoker skills are improved then Summoner would be unique

Lumiere

Wait, the scholar has black magic? Level 3 is pretty crappy compared to the Black Mage's L7. Ranger is stuck at L3 for white also.

At one point I gave this a try (I was using the GBA FF1 and 2 games as a source for consistency) but I couldn't figure out the messy tilemaps at all.

I haven't given magic to scholars yet, maybe I'll remove the white magic to rangers and give it to them.

Lumiere

Ah, I was misreading. That was a change that the 3D versions did, they gave the Scholar L3 White & Black magic.

People got my message right. :)
I suppose the starting classes can/should be overshadowed, but going all sages and ninjas in the end game (because they are objectively the best) is kind of sad, given the variety of jobs the game has to offer!
Note: buffing the other jobs is a possibility, but nerfing these two (still leaving them unique in their skills and stat balance) works too!
