You have to admit though, those are some pretty fuckin' bad four seconds.

plus it's morel ike.... a minute or so.

Makes me glad XenoGears wasn't a PS2 game. Those 30 seconds would have been at least ten minutes. It would have KH2(Well, Aerith and Cid to be exact) all over again.

I have no problem with that.

I have a problem with making him like a 19 year old guy from Kentucky. He should sound like he's in his early forties and has been through some shit.

yeah, the localization team THINKS they are hitting their target audience.

does anyone know if the voice acting was better in the jap version? I just might find out if they force me to import Final Mix+

I like ff7 Cid! Him and Zack are the only good things I take away from that game. Tho yes hes not as crothity and grump in kingdom hearts. HE SHOULD BE SHOUTING STUFF LIKE SIT DOWN AND DRINK YOUR GODDAMN TEA!

Anyone else have problems with this patch on pSX 1.11? I get only a few mins in and it pauses... as if i'd hit the start button... but i didn't, and it won't unpause it's just stuck there. o_O

Final Mix+ has English voice acting :huh:... Well, in KH2 anyway.

Yep. Chain of Memories has Japanese, though. But I'm not all that sure as to how many of the Square characters show up in that.

what I meant was not that if I imported that it would only be in Japanese, only that if I'd wait for a local release if they are doing one, but if not I'll just buy a freeloader. Either way, the issue wasn't getting it in english, but that when I do get it, HOWEVER I DO, I'll get the japanese voice choices to, and when I do, then I can compare.

make sense now?

edit: ok I reread you guys' posts, and now I'm confused, does the jap version of Final Mix+ ONLY have English voices? I thought there would be an option...

English voices ONLY on KHII in Final Mix +

Same deal as the original KH FInal Mix, and FFX and X-2 International versions. The text is all in Japanese, though.

The Chain of Memories remake in FM+ does have all Japanese voices.

Sadly no, there isn't any option for enabling Japanese or American voices, probably because single layer DVDs have not enough space to hold both.

I have played a bunch of graphic adventures on CDs... I wonder if they really can't fit it all in a DVD...

Actually, I really doubt they can't fit both languages in a DVD.

Not many rerender lip motions for other languages, they usually just make the lip motions move as if it could be just about anything coming out of their mouthes.

yes, most games characters just say watermelon repeatedly, at least that's what you're supposed to lip if you are singing and forget the words.

KH and KH2 did lip-synch correctly in many of the cutscenes (not all, some of them just had a little black hole for the mouth that opened and closed). They drew 2D textures on the 3D models. Those are much easier to reanimate than redoing 3D animation with full models (like FFX has).

To the best of my knowledge, no 3D effort (game, movie, what have you) has ever been reanimated to match a new dub. Even regular animation generally doesn't, though there are a few techniques to at least make some of it closer to the new language.

The difference is that having audio which the target audience can't understand is a big difference in quality of experience. Having lip motions act differently, by and large, isn't, and therefore isn't worth the cost of reanimating every single mouth movement.
