Tail Concerto (PSX) Finnish Dub, Translation & More

I've made a fully translated and dubbed version of Tail Concerto for the Playstation.
The translation is a mix of the original Japanese and the English in-game dialogue.
It has a lot of voice-acting in it, so getting new voices for it took me longer then translating the game itself.
It has taken me 2 years to make it, and I'm very close to completion.

1. The game has In-Game cutscenes, where the music is using SEQ to play it in the background, while the voices are streamed from one specific XA file, that has all the dialogue for the scene.
I've found the file that has Timestamps, which tells the game when to play the specific part of the XA file, but I haven't figured how to change the timings, which is the current problem I am facing.

The Finnish dialogue is sometimes longer then English, making me have to change the lines a little to fit the timing, but sometimes even that isn't enough.
If anyone knows about other games that do this as well, and knows how to tinker with them, help would be greatly appreciated.

2. The last part for the dub are the sound effects.
The game uses VAG files (Unless there's a different file that the game uses that I didn't know) that I'm pretty sure no one has figured how to replace audio for those yet, so the sounds that the characters make are still in English.

3. This one's optional, but I figured that it could be said as well:
The Finnish text is also bigger then the English version and sometimes I have to squish the words together to fit, so obviously I'd have to rebuild it, but I don't know how.

I've tried to look into it, but my knowledge is limited to it.
Again, if anyone's willing to help or giving tips, I'd be grateful for it, because working on this game has been my dream for a long time.

Thank you for reading.
If you're interested what the Finnish voices sound like, I've uploaded some of the cutscenes with subtitles and a full playthrough here:

I never heard of this game before. When you said Finnished I thought u meant you finished translating it, but then i realize it's Finnish like from Finland lol

congrats on almost completing it. I saw your help wanted Ad and maybe i can help you to the finish line. I'm currently wrapping up a project of my own so maybe not right away.

what i can tell you though is that you can replace the VAG audio. These are typically used for like in-game audio, speech, and sound effects. however it's used for .seq too that uses vag samples stored in the .vb file. It's similar to composing midi with samples. With the psx it uses seq+vab.

My first ever mod was replacing the Vag audio. It was for this game called Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, i had seen someone make a fan video a long time ago of how it would sound if the game had English speaking voices instead of Japanese. So I took audio samples from the Mobile version of Puzzle Fighter as well as clips from other games that had sounds in English and swap it with the Japanese vags. here's a video i made of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzotJklNnl8

i also added custom BGM by swapping out the XA tracks lol im kinda embarrassed to share it cuz i used my own voice as the announcer. I was also watching a longplay of the Tail Concerto game and it looks pretty cute, i might play it someday

i believe it's possible to increase the duration of the XA file to make the dialogue longer, however you may have to rebuild the ISO. i never tried it but there was a thread discussing that a few months ago: http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=32760

the thread was about the str movie being longer, however the issue was with the XA audio that comes accompanied with the str video. The Japanese version had a vocal track which made it longer where the US version had regular BGM music for the opening.

Onnea projektiin  .

Loistavaa työtä ja hatunnosto. Suomikäännökset ovat hyvin harvinaisia mutta sitäkin tervetulleempia!

Yeah, I was curious about how to replace the VAG files.
If you ever have time to help with that I would be very grateful.
And I also found out that the game uses "Timestamps" for the XA files, so that is what needs to be modified so my audio wouldn't clip/be interrupted.
You can Personal Message me if you want. ^^

I am also planning on making a English text version of the game, so those who are interested to play this game could also try the new dub as well.

Kiitoksia paljon, itsekin huomasin miten vähän Suomikäännöksiä on ja halusin innolla tehdä samalla dubin.
Huomasin että olit osana yhtä niistä Klonoa pelien käännöksessä, tosi siistiä!
