Nes, Genesis or Game Boy to make an edit...
« on: October 08, 2021, 02:03:05 am »
What would be a good game to edit his graphics and do a Wonder Woman spriteswap?

Something really easy to do, not complex Hex codes, compressed graphics, moving banks, adding tiles, etc.

A game you think could fit and someone as noob as me can edit, I kinda know how to use TLP, I helped on the Deadpool hack of NG, but Im just an spriter, if there is no estage editor or some programs I cant edit something else.

Any suggestions that could work, gameplay wise or style?

Might help to detail some of the powers available -- there are a few whip/rope using games that might do better the lasso thing. https://www.superherodb.com/wonder-woman/10-807/powers/

I still maintain "hex codes" is not a thing anybody does, just looks like that from the outside, but I take your meaning.

Anyway the ROM maps of various games on https://datacrystal.romhacking.net/ should be a nice start here. Will tell you where things are such that you can hopefully just point your tile editor of choice* at them and not even have to press down a lot with the ROM open to find them.

*many tile editors these days will import and export BMP or PNG images such that you can use a more traditional image editor, naturally you will want to transfer the palette (or would that be index) across or otherwise account for it in your edits (basically no gradients) if not using pure pixel art modes or programs.

Arumana no Kiseki? The Battle of Olympus? Clash at Demonhead? Castlevania?

I need to check those.

Castlevania was an option just because the lasso could work, but I think gameplay wise doesnt fit, unless there is a program to change values like walking speed and jump, but seems like too much work for me.
