Editing Kirby's Dream Land sprites
« on: August 24, 2021, 02:48:17 pm »
Hello there!

After I finished Polish translation of Kirby's Adventure I went ahead to translate the first game in the series - Kirby's Dream Land. And first thing I noticed, that YY-CHR can't entcipher KDL code correctly and there's just jumbled mess of various sprites. I thought I won't need to edit sprites, but then there's Stage 5 cutscene (Mt. DeDeDe) that works differently than the first four I could simply edit them in hex editor.

As the thread title says: Is there a working way to see and edit sprites in this game with a help of any editor?

Hal lab uses a custom compression.
You will have to use this (de)compression tools.

Maybe you can also be interested in work on the colorized version
