Editing Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow's default controls

I'm currently working on a mod for DoS and want to change the game's terrible default controls (especially since they can't be changed in Julius/etc. mode) but I have no idea where they're stored in the rom. Does anyone know where they're stored or how I can search for them? Thank you.

Other than forced touch screen gimmicks (which http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3408/ among others, http://www.romhacking.net/?page=hacks&genre=&platform=&game=2668&category=&perpage=20&order=&dir=&title=&author=&hacksearch=Go , sorted nicely) I am not sure I would call the controls terrible.

Find whatever reads that or the debounced location and you can change either the apparent values in the debounced area or the things you care about when it reads them to look instead at different things.
