Battletoads Easy Mode

I might as well start a thread on this because I just can't let it go.

Battletoads for the NES is one of my favorite games but as we all know it's mindbogglingly hard. Especially 2 player mode, which is what I find most interesting. I want to make the game beatable and fairly easy to play with 2 players. Heck, even 4 players since now there's a hack for that!

I went down a rabbit hole of cheats for Battletoads (USA) for NES. The best I could do was a patch with a compilation of cheats, a "cheaters edition".

- Play Unused Song At Title Screen
- 9LIVES
- Infinite Continues
- Bounce Up If You Fall Down Pit
- Maximum Energy From Flies
- Rat Can't Grab Clock in Rat Race Level
- Invincibility Against Electricity
- Skip Intro Screens
- Press START To End Level

Level 11 is still unbeatable with 2 players but you can use START at any time to skip any level. A good way to actually experience any level beyond level 3.

Now, I understand that the Japanese version of the game is much easier. I tried it and actually managed to beat Turbo Tunnel since it's slower and have fewer obstacles.

I also really like the Bugfix by Ti:

Unfortunately I cannot get the cheats to work with Ti's bugfix nor the Japanese version. Any ideas on how to merge them?

Good idea! I wonder if there's a way to make the 4 player patch work with cheats and the bugfix patch.

I think the best idea would be to translate the Japanese version. It's really hard to find the level data and send it to the US version I think.
