Mame IPS patches?

Bit of an odd question but anyone know of a way to find some IPS patches for MAME hacks? Specifically some for the CPS3 with hacks from Yumeji and Pipi899, someone on github shared some for Street Fighter III but I'm looking for Jojo in particular. There's prepatched roms but that doesn't work with what I'm trying to use it for given the odd file structure of HBMames CPS3 hacks in particular compared to something like the Neo Geo or CPS2, the hacks being the ones that enable hidden characters or bosses, looked all around but it's not easy to find information on this and patch files (not roms though even those are sparse) are even harder to come by.

Well, what exactly are you trying to use it for that makes prepatched ROMs unsuitable?

If you have prepatched ROMs, then can't you just find the unpatched ROMs and make your own IPS patches accordingly?

You can use HBMame's prepatched roms with FinalBurn if you put them in the right folder, at least with Libretro, normal FBN uses IPS patches themselves though I hadn't tested the libretro method with those yet, but CPS3's hack files are "10bbs" "50" and so on, and as is those don't work with that, hence the need for IPS patches for those, the street fighter ones I got work as normal though.

Never made an IPS patch myself before so I don't know where to start there, though I also don't know which file corresponds to what, the street fighter IPS patches require patching four files but the HBMame version is about 10 files so it's tricky.

You run the program, you select the original ROM, then you select the changed ROM, and it makes a patch. I'm not sure what you were expecting?

The biggest catch is that IPS does not work with files larger than 16 MB. Even if you have an emulator that supports IPS files, it's not going to work if the file sizes are too big.

There should be tools or at least information out there regarding how those four files can be changed into ten files and back again.

I think I understand your problem.
The CPS3 roms have been redumped or changed format a few years ago.
Old format went like 10, 51, etc...
The newer format is something like simm_1.1, simm_1.2, etc... (quoting from memory, so this is a bit inacurate, but you should get the picture).
I have a small utility taht allows to convert CPS3 rom files one way or the other.
So you could turn your pathced 10 into the fourn new corresponding roms (and recreate IPS patches if you want to softpatch).

Here is the utility :

Took a bit of trial and error but that actually worked! The two hacks worked real well, might try making some IPS patches in the future to make it easier to back these up + allowing soft patching, CPS3 is tricky since it seemed to depend on the revision (it worked without glitches if I used jojobaner1, which the utility marks as 990913) so that'll be kinda tough to test for IPS, but the rest should be easy.
