Yeah. Turning one of them into a Magical Doropie game would work because they were so similar. MD had a lot of promise but was insanely hard. I have yet to finish it. I'm not even sure that game is fair. Doropie rocks though.

I am a collector of translated and hacked games put on cartridges.  When friends come over and we play retro games the multiplayer games are always the ones we go to, of course.

Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) has a translation and hack that allows 3 people to play instead of the usual 2 using the snes multitap.

I am looking for someone to make a 4 PLAYER hack of:
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
and
-Sunset Riders

Then I would like to get a cartridge made of each to enjoy with friends.

Can this be done?????

"hacked games put on cartridges" are typically known as repros and are not have RHDN rolls. If you want to buy a flash cart and put things on that then that is your business but few around here will condone repro making/selling for various reasons.

Making games more multiplayer/unlocking an existing one is considerably easier than adding multiplayer to an existing game but that does not look to be such a problem here. The trouble tends to come if you face sprite/memory limits (common enough on beat em ups and shooters) and need to add another character, and also adding a third player, unless it was previously an AI, tends to drop the game difficulty. Looking at SoM2 multiplayer it looks like the third character was an AI and making that then respond to controls is a considerably easier hack.

I suggest you target the next generation up, either the N64 (which already has the four-player ports built-in) or the Sega Dreamcast. Both have a lot of homebrew software and are easy to develop for, so doing a remake of those games, which were based on arcade games, would be more likely to stay faithful to your ideal vision. The PlayStation (One) had RAM limits which might be a bit of an obstacle, but it depends on the skills and patience of your development team.

However, for the cost of development, either in time or compensation, won't it be easier/cheaper to just get the actual four-player arcade machines?

I've got a simple hack idea. Or, at least I think it's simple.

Soul Bubbles has a different protagonist in Japan. In North America and Europe, the protagonist looks like this. In Japan, the protagonist looks like this.

Why not make hacks that swap the North American / European protagonist for the Japanese one, and vice versa? Sure, it's an aesthetic change, but so are the Final Fantasy uncensor hacks.

I mean, it sounds pretty simple to do, yet as far as I can tell...no one has done it yet.

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 are infamous for having lackluster translations and rather poor English sound mixing/voice acting.

Has anyone ever attempted to re-translate or re-localise the cutscene and in-game dialogue text for either of these games while still retaining the Japanese voice overs? Hacking the relatively recent PC/Steam releases appears somewhat feasible...

With Mario Kart 8 getting 200cc, is it possible to add it into Super Mario Kart?

I second that idea. Making it harder for SNES, N64 and GBA versions of Mario Kart. I, who finished Mario Kart on SNES, would play it again if a new setting were to be opened.

That sounds like it'd be pretty simple to do. Just change the speed values and hack an additional option on to the menu.

It really is not that simple, considering the AI racers and giving the category its own set of trophies. 150cc isn't available from the get-go, so 200cc not being available from the start has to be factored as well.

Out of all the 7th Saga's easy mode patches, I haven't seen a single one actually restore the original Japanese edition's difficulty.  You would think that would be the first attempt at making it easier. :P

Really simple request incoming:
I would like a hack of Ocarina of Time (preferable Toki no Ocarina actually) that replaces Link with Mario.  There is already a hack like this that exists, but it does not work on console.  If someone can do that, or mod the existing to work with my Everdrive 64, that'd make me pretty happy.

Excuse me, but this patch, in theory,  does that:
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/264/

"7th Saga is the localized version of Elnard, the Japanese incarnation of this game which is much, much easier by comparison. This IPS patch restores the monster stats of Elnard to the US 7th Saga and also modifies the mechanics of player leveling such that the player will now gain stats as he or she would in Elnard, making the game’s difficulty level much more reasonable. Additionally, confrontations with the rival apprentices in this game are now properly balanced, an oversight in the localized version."

It even fixes a problem from the original Elnard.

Is this what you asked for, or you are requesting something different and I got it wrong? If that's the case I'm sorry to bother you.

----

I have a small question about Final Fantasy III (Famicom/NES).

Is it possible (And how hard could be) to modify the formula for Black Magic Damage to make it equally powerful (Or at least similar) compared to Call/Summon Magic?

Looking at the Damage Formula document that Instructrtpede made:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/nes/563415-final-fantasy-iii/faqs/29389

I saw that the B.Magic damage is badly "nerfed" compared to the Summon one pretty bad.

Spoiler:
The Magic Attack Multiplier:

Black Magic Attack Multiplier = (Intellect/16) + (Level/16) + (Skill/32) + 1

Call Magic Attack Multiplier = (Intellect/8) + (((Skill/8)*3)/2) + 1

Magic Hit Ratio:

Black Magic Hit% = (Spell Hit%) + (Intellect/2)

Call Magic Hit% = (Spell Hit%) + (Intellect)

And finally, Magic Damage

Black Magic Attack Damage = (Spell Damage) + (Intellect/2)

Call Magic Attack Damage = (Spell Damage) + (Intellect)

Seeing how Black Magic is your "go to" special attacks for practically the entire game (Normal Summon is not that useful being random, and white is mainly for support) and groups of enemies are always common (Even more in older FF), I always found kind of sad that it was so "weak", even more when you realize that spell damage gets divided by the number of targets (Unless you use spells like Quake or Bio, which are "Full Screen Attacks"), so if you divide weak damage between the number of enemies it becomes kind of useless at some points, pretty dissapointing seeing how is MAGIC, lol.

And even when you get "the better summon command" you do little more than spamming Bahamut. At least using Black Magic gives you some utility spells, or even the Break spell, which is impressively useful even in the last dungeon (Very rare, usually this things get useless really fast).

I can't seem to find that much info about FFIIIJ hacking, most of the times the Snes game with the "same" name takes all the space, and my only experience with hacking is visual changes and little hex modifications (like changing the spells learned in games like 7th Saga; and a few text edits for personal use).

That's why I'm asking here if it could be possible... I know probably no one cares about that game, but I guess I don't lose anything for asking.

I could request it, but that would be a little too selfish for my part, and I don't mind tinkering with the game if I can get some ideas of where I can start (If it's possible at all, of course).

Edit:Typos, typos, typos.

I'm glad it was what you wanted! I really have to replay 7th Saga.

About the FFIII thing, I've seen the offset where the spells are , and while my skills as a hacker are very modest to find the formulas for the damage, I can buff the damage base of the spells.

I tried several high level spells like Quake, Meteo and Flare, and the damage upgrade is pretty nice, around 800/1300 more damage each with a Lvl 43/99 Skill job character, which is more than enough for the monsters in this game and the later stages seeing how yu can get stronger with more levels; although of course they don't get near to the last summons, Leviathan and Bahamut do seriously broken damage.

They should be harder to get at least (I may try to change it for personal use too).

I hope I can upgrade low & mid level spells to a decent enough power so they can be worth a damn to reconsider wasting Magic Points.

Edit: Holy crap, using Drain with improved damage recovers over 3k health. Jesus. I'm having fun with this.
Edit: Now I can change spells so they can Attack every enemy with Full Damage intead of dividing it, like Summon Magic.

You know what would be neat?
Having a save feature for Sonic 1 and 2 similar to that of S3&K but with the following added features:

1) Having spin dash and the ability to transfor into Super form after collecting all Chaos Emeralds (for Sonic 1)
3) Being able to select your character from Sonic, Tails and Knuckles like in S3&K (for both S1 & S2 levels of course.
4) Restore Hidden Palace to S2.

That would be tge ultimate Classic Sonic experience!!!

I'm surprised no one has done all that yet.
Maybe I should give it a crack when I have some time to work with the disassemblies again.

.................................................Man, sorry to break your hopes and dreams, but...

The guys at Sonic Retro did all that already. Just to save your post, they didn't do all three at the same time.

Really?
Cause I'm a member there and haven't seen anything with those specifications.
I'm not asking for 3 in 1 kind of thing.
Each game separated in a ROM per game, but with the save feature of S3&K and the extras I mentioned per game.
