Has anyone made a hack of Pitfall The Mayan Adventure (SNES) to play only the original version of Atari Pitfall? The whole game is in there (just enter the code on the title screen) but 'game over' returns to the title screen. The Mega Drive/Genesis version could also use such a hack since the code for that entails pressing 'A' 26 times. It would be cool throwback thing to have Atari Pitfall as a rom for SNES and Genesis.

Edit: I've done a lot of searching and only come up with these Game Genie codes on a forum. It still involves loading up Mayan Adventure from the beginning to use them though instead of loading straight into the Atari 2600 game

Also, there is no kill screen when you complete the game. It just continues even though you collected 32 treasures, shown on this video:

I'm guessing loading straight into the game and re-loading from there instead of returning to the title screen is probably an easy project for those who know how. It would recreate a good representation of the 2600 game on the SNES. The kill screen (where it just hangs at item no.32) probably isn't quite such an easy fix. I'm guessing the game isn't even counting the stuff collected but I could be wrong.

Edit no.2: I've got games from the original Atari Flashback plug and play console running on Super Nintendo. I've made a video explaining...

Hi i was looking for someone who could figure out how to direct boot each Ninja Gaiden in the Ninja Gaiden SNES Trilogy, i mean to sidestep the menu select:

To have 3 different roms instead, 1 for each game.

You know, seeing that Mega Man 7 & 8 had NES style demakes, I wonder if it's possible for someone to do a demake (aka NES version) of Mega Man and Bass? I mean the potential is there and I'm sure someone can recreate some of the enemies and Robot Masters that were exclusive to there like King. I mean if 7 & 8 can receive demakes, why not this game too, let alone Mega Man 11?

A Mega Man and Bass Demake is already in development: https://youtu.be/VbM3ICJ9LlI

A hack which adds back the unused demon Mickey Mouse and Donald sprites from Shin Megami Tensei 1 (I'm not kidding, look it up)

So I have a simple idea based off of the "hidden" button combinations in the newly released Zelda Game & Watch:

https://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/2021/game-and-watch-the-legend-of-zelda-secret-series-part-3/

Adding the ability to save anytime in Zelda and Zelda II a la Link's Awakening by pressing start + select + A + B while on the pause screen, and giving Zelda II the ability to do it anytime while in the overworld by pressing those same buttons. I figure that it'd be a small, yet decent, QoL feature to add to the original games since the GBA and VC releases already have similar remedies.

I think it'd be nicer with a simpler combination (Select+Start).

GBA and VC also have the benefit of being emulation, game specific at that, and thus savestates and whatever else. In hardware gets trickier.

But yeah two approaches there
1) You somehow make savestates. Don't know what kind of mapper shenanigans you would need for this.
2) You create some kind of functional equivalent to normal saving but branched to under those conditions you mention, maybe with a restore to location aspect twiddled somewhat to prevent unwinnable scenarios.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a PSP/NS script port of the first Star Ocean for the original SNES version?

FAST6191

Often with ports back that far you find later devices have scope to be a lot more wordy (for better or for worse is usually on a case by case basis). Is this going to be the case here?

91-MPH

If you're comparing this task to be on the same level as an English localization of Trials of Mana, then yes; I think it would be the case here.

This wouldn't be the first time I've heard of a project doubling the memory size of an original rom. If it means only being able to play it on a Raspberry Pi and not Hakchi, then so be it.

Not sure if you want to incur the wrath of Disney lawyers, banking on whether they may or may not have better things to do with their time.

They aren't gonna suit a hacker's ass if they don't reveal it publicly, don't you think?

Are translation ideas allowed in this discussion? Because I'd like an Arabic translation of an NES game.

KingMike

I suppose. I know we have the Translation Request thing, but that is designed for English requests.

I know one problem with Arabic is possibly the right-to-left printing, if that is a significant concern.
As the NES was heavily designed for left-to-right (or less often used, top-to-bottom) printing.

I was hoping someone would do an Arabic translation of Kirby's Adventure since that is one of my favorite Kirby games. Or at least a translation of Kirby's Dream Land 1 and/or 2 for the Game Boy.

Probably, I only offered my idea since it's more the spirit of offering the ability to save with player one's controller and not requiring a second one or plugging into the player two's port. Like I said, I think it'd be a nice QoL feature to add to the original games.

No, that's not what I am proposing, and I am honestly a bit perplexed how you came to this conclusion. The GBA "NES Classics", Virtual Console, and Zelda Game & Watch releases haven't changed how saves worked or where you can save, only how you need to do so. You could already save in the NES games by bringing up the inventory screen in Zelda 1, and either pausing or being in the overworld in Zelda 2, but you originally needed a second controller in player two's port to press Up + A in order to save without dying first. I am literally just proposing that this ability gets made available on the NES originals by pressing a similar combination with player one's controller since that's how most rereleases of the game have functioned since.

A new bugfix for Suikoden (PSX).

Along with everything that Pyriel already fixed:

-Clean up the entire script to read much more smoothly.

-Switch the names of Earth and Wind Rune Pieces (as per the Tablet of Stones).

-Fix a glitch where someone might replace someone else (such as Pahn replacing Gremio, Gremio replacing Tir, or Ted replacing Cleo).  (This tends to happen only randomly when you load a save file, so it won't be all too easy to actually replicate, but it only happened to me several times early in the game (no further than Kwaba).)

-Fix Marco's coin game to run on the same RNG as everything else, instead of its own that gets reset whenever you quit and play again.

-Eliminate the "sweet spot" in chinchirorin (mentioned in the series' Game Breaker page on TV Tropes, under "General").

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/GameBreaker/Suikoden

-Correct the entry points on the first balcony in Moravia Castle.

-Enable the Holy element in battle for Fukien's Punishment and Viktor's Star Dragon Sword.

-Anything else you might aware of.

We need a Phantasy Star III Relocalization  Hack asap

We should also make the English terminologies of the first four games be more up to date with their current installments (e.g. Phantasy Star Online 2).
