If I were to play this game, I would probably change that routine to make it believe it's always reading a 1 from memory. :D (Or something similar...) Although then I'd need to change more stuff so I don't get killed after the second battle...
That wouldn't really save you since this game seems to favor the enemies more than you and can have them use skills that wipe you out with 1 hit (My record is getting wiped out after the 3rd battle, my robot had 29 HP and the attack took 50 HP. I couldn't even leave the city) :P
On a side note, by the time you make it to the first human opponent, he will be a cakewalk compared to what you've gone through. ;D

Mega Man: The Wily Wars (Sega Genesis): A hack that will do two things to it:

Change the music for the choose your weapon screen in Wily Tower to play the unused Track 72.

Restore the unused Shadowy Proto Man sprites for the Mega Man 3 ending.

Are you referring to this document, Sir? I will look into it. Thank you for the reference! :)

Yes Sir, I am referring to that document. ;) It took me some time to understand how it all worked, but I was really pleased when I used it to put DTE in my own hack, and some of the principles detailed there have helped me out since.

Great job! But you both seem to have much more patience for random battles than me. :P

Thanks, though I wouldn't say I have patience - in all honesty I'm not likely to play the game myself. :D I just saw someone with a feasible request and decided to try and fulfill it. See guys, sometimes when you write a FEASIBLE and LOGICAL request in this thread, someone comes along to help - especially when you show you can do a little bit of the work yourself. ;)

Hi everyone,

A hack or a Game Genie code to allow a level select in Castlevania (Akumajou Dracula) on Nes, or a way to skip levels, would be awesome !

All the ideas shared here are so good, I wish I could be better at hacking to provide patches for everyone !

Take care everyone !

Always worth checking that site to see if they have something you want. :)

EDIT: Actually that doesn't help an awful lot: that code will start you on the three parts of Level 1, but if you try to start on Level 2, the game loads the wrong ROM bank and everything is screwed up. I could try to figure out where the game decides which bank to use, but that will take a bit more hacking. I might give it a shot, though. Hell, at this point it'd probably be better to just include an actual level select in-game. :)

hello everyone, I'm a big SNES fan, I'd need help translating two fantastic titles. I searched for a long time on the internet without finding anything.
I would like you to help me translate these two titles:

ganbare daiku no gensan (hammerin' harry)
Shining Scorpion Mini 4WD Tamiya (mini 4wd)

Reduce enemy encounters in Sword of Hope II and have monsters give more gold & exp to keep progress streamlined with less frequent battles. It's still a solid game that's a huge upgrade over the first game, but this would make it more so.

Any chance a Final Fight 2 US version restoration patch would be available in the future? there are a lot of stuff that has been changed or censored in the US release like enemies and stage background designs and I find the Japanese version far superior compared to it's US release.

An easy mode's hack for Solomon's Key (NES) including stuff like more time limit, a continue option after game over, start with more lives and fireballs...

KingMike

It already has a Continue option.
QuoteAt the ''Game Deviation Value'' screen, hold Up, A, and B.
Someone would just need to make that happen normally.
The others sound like real basic cheat hacking.

I would like to see a hack for both the regular & the All-Stars versions of Super Mario World that will make the game look more like Yoshi's Island.
I got the idea from these edited screenshots that a game artist named @eto2d made on his Twitter account:

It would be great something like that, personally, the original SMW game was never my favorite, but it looks great! :o

A request: Modify the post-suicide scene on FFVI to make Locke himself to appear and save Celes (and not a random poor pigeon with your legs tied by his bandana.

I absolutely hate him to be the last one to be rescued

Does anybody know how to hack the NES version of the Legend of Zelda to have the music and sound effects of the Famicom Disk System version?

Not trivial to do. The disk drive has expanded audio hardware.

You'd be better off just creating an English translation patch for the FDS version. I can guarantee that would be much more feasible. Even if you set aside the fact that the FDS has extra audio hardware, changing text and graphics is much easier than music and sound effects.

I have two questions.

Firstly, how does one go about changing the frame rate on Ghosts 'n Goblins for the NES?
I remember reading, some time ago, that the NES port runs at a completely unacceptable internal frame rate of, like, 12?  It looks incredibly janky – especially when compared to the arcade version.  I think there was some talk about fiddling with the frame rate to make the game run smoother, but I've never seen anything that actually hints on how one might do that.  If anyone knows, definitely let me know – or, better still, make a patch and upload it!  You'd be doing a great service that's been a long time coming!  :3

Secondly, is there a hack that will add Super NES Mouse support to Nintendo's SimCity?
The Super NES version of SimCity has always been something I've been wanting to play with, but the fact that it's a mouse-driven game that's played with a controller kept me from doing so.  I think a mouse hack would make this good game even better.  Or, at least, easier to play.

That's all, for now.  Looking forward to any sort of response!

Not easy. I'm not sure about what frame rate the game actually runs at, but improving it would be a hell of a task. It's not like 3D games, games on the NES were just designed to be like that, so changing that design would be more trouble than it's worth. Just play the arcade version. :D

Now THIS is more doable. One could analyse how mouse input works on Mario Paint and the few other games designed to use the mouse, then try to replicate that in Sim City. If there's a game out there that supports both controller or mouse, even better. The tricky part is telling the game that that's what you want to do, but I really don't think it's outside the bounds of possibility.

Given how much people like this version over all others, I'm surprised nobody has tried to do it. I would, but alas, no time.

KingMike

I don't think SNES SimCity was that bad without mouse control. They did at least take some consideration for problems of using a controller, such as adding buttons to quickly move the cursor to the menubars as well as I think there was a button to hide the menus as well.

But I can understand the point of the mouse request.

One thing thought that could be improved is an option to swap between the first and second set of 1000 maps easily.
As I recall, to do it normally you had to select a map 0xxx, then start up the gameplay and wait for like 30 seconds or something, then reset and start a new city to have map 1xxx selected.

Not sure how viable it is, but since it's just an idea to throw in, might as well see if anyone would think this being interesting to accomplish as well.

My hack idea: Making a Chrono Trigger romhack that is based on ''Chrono Fantasy''.

Chrono Fantasy is a game supposed to be played on modern calculators.
The source leaked not too long ago and the game was supposed to be a mesh between Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI and I believe Seiken Densetsu 3 (or was it 2?).

Anyway, while the source code leaked, it is still incomplete, as the complete source code vanished a long time ago.
Maybe, someone will be interested in seeing a Chrono Trigger hack like this as well?
Just thought I'd mention it.

I checked myself, it's a (seemingly old) website.
