It's not even the first I've seen. Someone basically soldiered a Pokemon Blue ROM to a gutted SGB and sold it as a repro.
Again, COMPLETE WASTE of hardware. >:(

I am crying now.

Which version? I'm guessing N64.

I've been trying to see if I can dig up any more on the Satellaview broadcasts related to the Super Famicom version. Any help on that from a ROM hacker may be appreciated.

An unfortunate Repro cart on eBay has had me decide to come on here to leave the suggestion to up-port Link's Awakening to being a SNES game. Most likely by hacking LttP. I'm assuming it hasn't been done yet... otherwise this.... THING wouldn't exist.

Another waste I've just seen: guy filling a refrigerator with every copy of Jurassic Park he can get.

Either version would be welcome. Also, the super famicom version had a bs version AND a straight cartridge. I personally know nothing about the satallaview broadcasts tho aside from they happened.

I'd think if anything, a Metal Gear NES Overhaul would be nice. Hey it was done with Castlevania 2 turning it into Pyronaut so why not.

My Idea:
A hack of Super Mario Bros which adds separate Luigi graphics: so basically at the bottom as shown in Tile Layer Pro, you would see the Luigi graphics, allowing you to edit them so you can make a Luigi that isn't just a palette swap.

Change Zeke & Julie from Zombies Ate My Neighbors into Chris & Jill "with their original uniforms" and you have a hack right there. Name it Resident Evil and hack the levels, I'm confident a lot of fans of both ZAMN & RE will get a kick out of this hack. Editing the title screen might be a bit tricky...  :cookie:

I've got a cool idea for a SMW hack:

Birdo & Yoshi in: Inter-Dimentia!

The dimensional barrier between Subcon and Dinosaur Land has been breached, causing the two lands to merge. Birdo and Yoshi have to work together in order to first solve the mystery behind the strange dimensional rift, then figure out how to seal the rift before the multiverse collapses.

You play as BOTH Birdo and Yoshi (swapping between the two by pressing SELECT).

Birdo can spit eggs by default. An egg will stop after hitting an enemy or running into a solid object (i.e. a pipe or wall). Yoshi can swallow enemies/hold shells in his mouth (then spit them out). A standard jump on an enemy as either dinosaur has the effect of a Mario/Luigi spin-jump (kills the enemy instantly). A ground pound as either dinosaur is performed by pressing down after jumping. To cancel a ground pound, press up after pressing down (but still in mid-air). This can be useful if you accidentally ground-pound over a pit.

Not only do you play as both dinosaurs, powerups work differently depending on what dinosaur you are currently playing as.

If Birdo collects a fire flower, she can now spit fireballs that pass through solid objects, but are stopped by a single enemy. Yoshi also spits fireballs after grabbing a flower, but his fireballs pass through enemies (and are stopped by solid objects).

If Birdo grabs a feather, she gains the ability to swing her tail at her enemies (replacing her eggs/fireballs while the feather is active). She can also hover for short distances, much like Peach in SMB2. Yoshi grows wings after picking up a feather. He can fly for a short distance after taking to the air (flight will happen automatically; just hold the jump button). Flight and hovering will each have its use. Yoshi gains greater vertical distance while flying, but Birdo covers more horizontal distance with her hover.

When one dinosaur collects a powerup, it affects them both (for simplicity's sake--no need to add unnecessary complications).

Also, Sonic the Hedgehog-style running will be implemented (just press left or right to accelerate; no need to hold Y anymore). You won't run REALLY fast, though (I want this game to be a challenge, but not some unfair series of Kaizo traps).

Levels will be a creative mix between Super Mario Bros. 2/Super Mario Land (there are only 20 levels in SMB2 and 12 in SML), and Super Mario World (style, NOT the original SMW levels!) and SMW2: Yoshi's Island (once again, NOT the original levels!).

Graphics will be original-style SMW graphics (where possible; some custom sprites like Shyguys and, of course, Birdo and Yoshi, will be used).

Please note that this game will take me a LONG...ish time to complete (going to shoot for around five months, but may take longer depending on bugs and other annoying hangups).

Winged Cat

Here is another idea for Galaxy 5000 game (NES).

When you play with second player and you finish all tracks on the first planet (Mercury) "The End" screen shows up. So we need to get rid of this limitation to let both players race on all tracks on all planets in 2 Player mode.

Done =)

More "Inter-Dimentia" info:

The reason that Subcon and the Mushroom World (including Dinosaur Land) were merged is due to the effect it caused: it erased Mario and Co. from existence...except for Yoshi and Birdo.

If Yoshi and Birdo can't seal the rift causing Subcon and the Mushroom World to be merged, the entire Marioverse will cease to exist (a fact somehow missed by the villains who brought it about).

The four villains implicated in this heinous crime are Bowser, Wart, Kamek and Count Bleck. Together they form the Oscurati, a "coven" of dark-magic users far more powerful than they were individually, combined.

I'm looking for some GBA ROM hackers that are avid fans of the original Final Fantasy 3. Not Final Fantasy 6! Any FF fan knows that the remake releases for the GBA included 1&2 Dawn of Souls, 4 Advance, 5 Advance, and 6 Advance. The best entry in the series just hasn't received enough love!

Using the base sprites from FFRK, the music remastered (or original), the dialogue from the DS version, the ROM of an  advance remake, and the knowledge of the community, I believe we can make a fan version of FF3 Advance.

Let me know if you are interested and what skills you have. Post here or email [email protected]  :) Happy hacking!

This. Would be. AWESOME.

Especially if these edited levels would be reminescent of places/scenes from the first few Resident Evils (1, 2, and 3) such as:

Part of the Mansion From Resident Evil

Part of the Raccoon City Streets

Uh.. More of Raccoon City... BUT WITH A BIGASS EVIL BABY.  :D

As for an FF3a hack... sounds epic! If it were of FF4 on SNES though, I'd happily recreate some maps in FF4kster.  ;) Hell I might mess around and do that anyway as a stress relief whenever I hit a wall in my own work.
Like Super Mario Land? Then you'll love my first completed Rom Hack: Maniac on the Run!

I have mentioned this before:

http://devster.proboards.com/thread/613

The Super Mario Bros port to the Sega Genesis. So how about a game with even more simplified code ported to Genesis such as an Atari 2600 game? Atari Adventure perhaps?

Has anybody ever ported the japanese famicom Dragon Quest I, II, III & IV title screens to their american nes counterparts? It would be sweet if someone did!  :P   I might try doing it myself if no one else wants to do it, but I don't think I have enough hacking knowledge yet...  :(

KingMike

Does FC DQ3 have a proper title screen? It seems to just display the title in plain text on a black screen before going to the file screen.
