So I managed to get the English translation of Castlevania SOTN for the Saturn, I did a google search and saw a bunch'a SS emulators, I also have a bunch'a SS BIOS files.

Which Sega Saturn emulator is the best one to look into, fellas? Thanks for any tips. :D

The best Sega Saturn emulators IMHO are:

01 - SSF (I haven't played many Sega Saturns games but the compatibility on this one seems to be high, I also finished Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean in this emulator with no issues).

02 - Yaba Sanshiro (The compatibility on this one isn't as high as SSF but so far this emulator seems to be promising, I haven't played any games on it though, I rather use SSF instead).

Also note, I'm using old versions of those emulators (probably from 2 or 3 years ago...), I haven't bothered in updating them, it's possible that the compatibility of those emulators are way higher now.

Mednafen is supposedly the most accurate for Saturn emulation, so i'm using it with MedGuiR frontend for convenience.

edit: oh and Bizhawk runs Saturn on Mednafen core, so it should be good too. it's just that Bizhawk is geared towards TAS, so it's probably not the most convenient choice unless you're a speedrunner.

Bizhawk/mednafen seems best overall and if that fails, ssf. I say this based on testing pretty much every game briefly. Yabause does have some nice filters though.

Yeah, Mednafen's Saturn core is the most accurate one at this point (The author has been focusing on it extensively over the past few years). SSF is ok if you only run Windows (Never tried it under Wine, though) with Yabause being a fairly distant third.

Due to the complexity of the Saturn's architecture (Lots of coprocessors working in tandem) all of them require far more CPU power to emulate at full speed compared to other systems of that generation: Multicore is a must, preferably 4 cores or more.

Another idea you may have missed: An actual Saturn with a MODE to just run your Saturn from an SD Card.  Not cheap, but you can't do any better than the real thing.

Bizhawk is actually very nice for all types, only issue I can think of is that NES isn't the best around... but Bizhawk can actually run some Libretro cores so that issue can be negated if required.

Surely the number of cores is irrelevant unless the emulator author took the considerable pains to write an emulator with parallel instructions?
This signature is an illusion and is a trap devisut by Satan. Go ahead dauntlessly! Make rapid progres!

I know Mednafen (The actual, official one, maybe it's different in other emulators that use its Saturn core?) will run each of the subsystems of the Saturn on a separate thread: You can even assign specific core affinities for them in the config file.

Sorry for the late reply, fellas. I've been swamped with work all week, I tried Mednafen and it runs like a charm on my PC. Thanks for all the help fellas, later on I'll play with the other ones you all mentioned. :)  :cookie:
