As my first venture in to romhacking I decided to make custom versions of Super Mario Land for my friends.
I did some sprite edits and changed the text in game to show their names, and I'm happy with the results.
My plan is to make them a custom game box and use my Joey JR. to put the roms on bootleg cartridges so they can play their personalised Mario game on an original gameboy.
For one of my friends I needed to edit the sprite to change Mario's skin color, this works well, but not on a GBC, where the skin comes out as red.
I read on a previous thread here that it's possible to force the GBC/GBA to load it in B/W. I did it, when checking in a Header checker I see that the changes went trough as intended but the game still loads the Mario color pallete.
Does anyone know how to really force the GBC/GBA to load it in B/W?
(I'm using bootleg Pokemon Crystal carts, which I thought might be the problem, but how does it know the game is Mario when it's not in the header anymore.)
