I am working on my first ROMhack (Pokemon Ruthless Red), and have just completed what I consider to be the first definitive version of the ROMhack (i.e. Alpha). This version of the hack only goes up to the end of Cerulean City.

Essentially, this hack doubles as a difficulty hack and an improvement hack. In Generation I, there were glaring issues with both game balance and game function. This hack intends to address both of these with changes such as, but not limited to:
-Nerfing the Psychic type, but without introducing any new types.
-Improving base stats of Pokemon, most of which involve the Special stat and modified according to Generation II onwards.
-Improving the learnsets of Pokemon, most of which involve the addition of moves which were obtainable in Generation II.
-Improving the moves available in Generation I, but that generally weren't considered useful moves. Examples include the replacement or improvement of all set damage moves (Dragon Rage, Night Shade, Seismic Toss, Sonicboom, Psywave) and Phazing moves (Roar, Whirlwind), in addition to many other move changes.
-Fixing various bugs and glitches (e.g. moves like Hyper Beam, Substitute, Focus Energy, or battle text, etc).
-Drastically improving the broken A.I.
-Adding Stat Exp to all trainers. All trainers have strengthened teams, and many trainers get custom movesets.
-And, again, more.

In terms of raw difficulty level, this game is likely going to be comparable to the difficulty level of the infamous Kaizo Pokemon games. However, the nature of the challenge is intended to diverge and essentially be its own thing.

I am looking for people who are interested in playtesting the ROMhack. The save files should be preserved with updates, as well. I have a Discord where the game file and README can be found, here:
