Not to throw more work on what is obviously a huge undertaking, but are there any plans for a Roll-Chan World V version as well?  I just didn't see anyone mentioning it, so I thought I may as well ask.

Thanks for taking on this project! Looking forward to it!

I found a whole bunch of concept videos made around the release of Mega Man 8bit Deathmatch V6 (which introduced Mega Man V elements) that shows off a lot of the game as it could be in color. Hope they can be used for new ideas and inspiration!

I just improved the title a bit, so that it now looks a bit more like the NES titles, specifically use the megaman 10 title for reference.

Any chance you can document some of this in english? I found your twitch (which is awesome btw) but hard to follow due to language barrier.

I really want to get into doing this and just have no clue where to start.

That looks great! I love the new design and the way it fits in with Mega Man 10's design. I hope it will fit.

I second this idea. Would be great to learn something from this process if we can. :)

I will be using this one. Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way if you are not into low level coding. All I can say everything you need is here.
I can answer english questions as well during livestreams, though you will probably laugh at my accent haha

Added a new screenshot with the very first Stardroid colored!

Hey I'm really excited for this. Megaman V for GameBoy is one of my favorite DMG games.

I have nothing against going with a modified titlescreen based on the Japanese release, but I hope you might consider making a variant that uses the original North American titlescreen for people like me who have a great deal of love for the North American version.

Ness

This looks great, and I'm glad to know slowdowns will be gone, they're this game's main flaw.

What did you have to do to make MM's face use a different palette? I doubt it's as simple as on NES?

At 0:42 in the teaser video, can you make the bubble enemies the same colour as the background ones?

Yes. That video is old, all enemies have been given their own palette now:

For Rockman's face I did exactly the same as NES: add a new sprite to every frame for his metasprite, which was hell without having the original sourcecode. Had to crack the whole metasprite engine. It looks good, unfortunately, it adds some flickering. It's a very slow process, it will take time to add the faces to all stardroids.

The color palettes look perfect so far. True to the era with lots of deep and saturated tones.

Some colorizations do their own thing, which is fine, but this feels authentic.

This is mindblowing! Good job :o

When @marc_max finishes this, I'd like to work on it personally.

This hack is looking very exciting. I hope with the heavy lifting done, this can be applied to the other four Megaman games for DMG GameBoy too, and Zynk's Roll-chan hacks too. That would be so so cool. These five games don't get the respect they deserve.

The fifth one definitely deserves some more love, and I'm very happy to see it's finally getting the treatment it needs to become a fully fledged member of the classic series. The other 4 games though? Not sure they really deserve the same time and attention, as most of the original content can be found reused in Mega Man V, apart from a few good music tracks.
Mega Man 7 > 3 > 2 > 9 > Wily Wars > 10 > V(GB) > 5 > 6 > 4 > Powered Up > 1 > The Power Fighters > The Power Battle > IV(GB) > III(GB) > II(GB) > Dr. Wily's Revenge(GB) > 8 > Mega Man and Bass > Mega Man (Game Gear) > Mega Man and Bass - Challengers from the Future

Satoshi_Matrix

The other four Megaman GB games do largely recycle content from the NES mainline series, but they aren't ports. They're newly made games with original stages and in the case of Megaman IV, new mechanics not found in the NES games.

I agree Megaman V is the best of the bunch, but Megaman III and IV on Gameboy are two of the best games on the original GameBoy by a good margin.

UltraEpicLeader100

You have my interest. I shall watch this thread closely.

This project is looking very good, congratulations!

By following this line of thought, someone should really make an improvement patch for that Megaman game on Game Gear.

Satoshi_Matrix

The Megaman GameGear game needs a music overhaul and maybe someone can modify the code to allow three Megabuster shots at once like every other Megaman game. Writing good sounding music for the SN76489 PSG soundchip is a challenge but I'm sure someone out there has the skill.
