Super Mario Bros.: Questions about graphics and palettes
« on: December 18, 2020, 09:32:06 am »
Since I don't want to open separate topics for these questions, I'll put them here.
1. I always see some garbled graphics when I open any SMB.nes in YY-CHR. What are they for?
2. How can I point a sprite to a different palette, specifically Luigi?
And another important information is I'm using "Super Mario Bros. (W) [!].nes" ROM just in case you give solutions that apply to other versions of the ROM.

those "garbled" graphics are actually game data. messing with it will ruin the game. change color palettes through a hex editor, asm or try the utility hosted on RHDN called SMB remodeler. I believe that is the name

You can change the color pălește with FCEUX from hex editor for exemple Mario's colors are 16 27 18 and you can change into Luigi's color 30 27 19
