Amazing & fantastic stuff going on here! You & the team keep up the great work Toffi! :thumbsup:

Toffi: thanks for the answer I understand that it will not be possible to have a combo system, but if possible adding a copy in the back when using the whip helps a lot and makes the game more modern, I liked the first portal :thumbsup:

Hi all!
My apologies for coming in late with this one, team AoC has been fairly buisy as of late so updates have been rolling out a little less rapidly.

A sneak peak at some new carnival stage concepts have been shown thanks to our newest stage artist Holy Diver!
New designs and edits are coming out frequently, so feel free to give us some pointers on what to improve on down below :thumbsup:

Currently the team has been assembling and carefully planning out AoC's Demon Castle, and have been working hard to assemble a list of stages both new and old that will hopefully make this go around extra special. :D

Here is our current list of stage proposals ranked from most popular to least. Each number ranks the popularity on a scale from 1-5 and the brackets represent compounded stage ideas that can combine less popular ideas. If you see a stage you like or think we missed out on a great concept that CV hasn't seen before, let us know below!

5/Throne Room
4/Clock Tower {1/Laboratory}
4/Phantom Library
4/Armory {2/Guards Keep}
3/Botanical Garden {1/Marble Gallery}
2/Astral Observatory
2/Theater {1/Dance Hall OR 1/Music Hall}
2/Jailhouse {1/Execution Chamber}
2/Icebox {1/Kitchen}
1/Chapel
1/Abandoned Mine
1/Underground Boathouse
1/Entrance
1/Wine Cellar{1/Storeroom}

We're also continuing on refreshing our older sprites to establish some extra stylistic consistency. Which will hopefully tie things together nicely.

Thanks for reading, more will be coming soon ;D

I liked this scene, I don't think there should be so many classic scenes, new game, new scene :thumbsup:

StarWyvern

 Always great to see these updates. It really makes my day! That Circus Scene though, it is hella awesome. I hope we continue seeing more new content like this. It really gives new life to hacks like this. :thumbsup:

Howdy folks! I'm back after a bit of a sick break with some project updates.
(Luckily I didn't catch the virus and am feeling a whole lot better now)

First things first.
Our wonderful concept artist Neri has had some irl stuff happen and has retired from the project. If your reading this Neri, thank you for giving the project such wonderful art. Your designs really helped bring our fan project to life and shape a lot of what made this project special. That being said we have a new opening for a concept artist. If your interested in traditional art and or want to help us design the project feel free to DM me here or on Discord, I'm always happy to respond.

Up next, we have some edited Sonia sprites and our first look at Claudia.
It's been quite a long while since this sprite was touched up, and after a bit of experimentation it was found that we could increase character readability by changing up the legs a bit.

Claudia Lecarde is the projects female scientist who fell under Dracula's curse and upgraded his army with 1890's tech (like the battleship and forge previously posted). These are some of the first of many concept sprites before we get to a semi testing ready product.

Last but certainly not least is the games custom sound engine. We have liftoff! A running version of the engine is finally ready to start testing and bug fixing. We still have a long way to go, but things are certainly coming together.

Thank you all for sticking with us despite the lack of new posts.
I hope you enjoyed this little AoC direct.

DavidtheIdeaMan

Excellent stuff once again Toffi :thumbsup: I hope you find a new artist inm place of Neri.

And seems like the custom engine for AoC is taking shape,now we just need custom enemies & bosses,not mention other stuff as well.

Googie

I'm loving the progress, I have a soft spot for the CV games for the NES.  :beer:

The game is beautiful! Congratulations!
If you wanted one more team member, I'm here... I've been making art and sounds for NES for a while... Is there any game rom? demo?

Toffi

Yes the game is currently in a WIP build state, we have the graphics shown properly implemented and the levels capped here have been mostly completed
(excluding the current circus stage which is about 40% complete atm).
However we are still waiting on the development of a unique MMC5 editing tool for proper .nes/ASM ROM insertion. Hopefully we can get started with testing soon, thanks for the question.

StarWyvern

Great work Toffi. Glad to see it is coming along well. I would help if I knew anything about ASM assembly. lol

Hello Again!
I'm back with some more updates. :happy:

Currently the dev team is working on the HUD, this includes boarder's, modified text, and more room.
Here's a sneek peak at some early designs.

Next up on the chopping block is a modified text bank. One of the biggest issues with the games opening at the moment
is space. We had a ton of juicy lore to include, but not enough real estate do that in the original CV3's font,
This modified text is stack-able, and does not need the extra buffer space its predecessor did.
expect more edits to come!

I've been testing the ROM on real hardware to ensure that the project runs well on both emulator and console.
Suffice to say it works! (using an flash cart here)

Lastly, I have a scrapped boss concept from a while back. Sadly the sprite needed a heavy amount of ASM
modding (to the point of it being built from scratch) which was unavailable at the time.
The original link expired so I wanted to post it here again, credit goes to the projects retired hacker Morinis.

Hi Drax01!

Thanks!:D A lot of credit goes to our volunteer dev team, as its through our combined work that stuff like this is possible. AoC is currently in early stages of development. All of AoC is completed on off hours, so development is often slow and steady. Simply put; I can't exactly give out a solid due date, most of our current estimates lean towards a playable demo becoming open to the public before the years end. With our current set up this demo would be a small collection of early levels, enemies and bosses that can be accessed through the password system.

very good, I'm looking forward to a demo of the game, it looks like it will be better than the original games :thumbsup:

I'm following his project along with another from zelda 2, and you are the best, when I can play his rom I'm going to make a video for my channel talking about his work.
