Probably the worst instructions on "how to patch" I've ever seen on this site, can someone help me out and tell me which patch, goes to what base ROM, CRC32's would be helpful too.

I saw that a while ago and thought it was weird.  As per the readme, it says it is for "versions prior to Post Beta 2", and apparently some people like that version because "fonts, menus, and names" subsequently changed?  You can see the old versions in the screenshots.

You will apparently need a version of the patch that is earlier than the one at https://www.romhacking.net/translations/490/ , but it is indeed a mystery as to where you would find such a thing.

In any case, if you just want to play the game and don't about the old fonts and menus (they certainly don't look very readable to me), then you can just stick with the final "Post Beta 2" version of the patch.
