Hello everyone!

Upon request of the good sebastianangel, I have started working on the sound engine.

I have already reverse-engineered the original sound driver and made some small modifications to allow importing Amilgi's excellent arrangements; however I am still in a phase where I am considering whether it's worth salvaging the original driver or completely replacing it.

In the next few days I will hammer some volume automation features in it and see if it sounds decent enough to continue on that path.
It's not too bad so far, but the interaction between sound effects and music is a bit grindy at points, so we'll see.

Hey!
We are not using delta samples at the moment, however Amilgi is reworking all the sound effects, and there is a chance he can use the pulse channels to simulate the original voices, so stay tuned ;)

Really, after watching the demo that sebastianangel sent me, my skin crawled, I'm so excited, I had listened the soundtrack many times already, but to feel the whole experience was superb, it feels really great, congratulations and welcome!!!!

By the way, I adjusted the timer on the title screen to be able to listen to the full opening theme, anyway I sent the file to Hacks roms, so he can send it to you! :thumbsup:

(I did it by changing the value of line 580, by 1A, in the file "bank_FF.asm")

It's getting very good, I liked the songs, I just think it's missing some sound effects or maybe the lack of you is that it leaves the fight a lot done for sf2

Is there any way you could add a toggle in the options menu to turn sound effects on/off? I feel like the game would be much more fun if the sound effects didn't interrupt the music (which I understand is due to the limited amount of sound channels, but still...).

The new sound engine is actually halfway to being implemented, so it is to be expected that the final result will differ significantly from the current state of the art in the demos.

But being a feature so expected by so many, we thought it best to share with you step by step the evolution of this rewarding process :thumbsup:

On the other hand, although I have not been able to commit myself actively because of my current responsibilities, I am trying to help sebastianangel, sharing all my knowledge and thanks to all the effort and enthusiasm he puts into his work I am sure he will achieve great things! :beer:

At the moment we are not using the delta modulation channel (it's not impossible, but there are various technical reasons and time constraints).
However, Amilgi has an idea to simulate the voice tones using pulse waves, so we'll see how that works ;)
