Help: Xenogears translation tools

About a month ago I made the decision to re-localize PS1 JRPGs to more modern standards. Bad idea? Maybe. But no one else was doing it, so I thought why don't I try? Luckily I found a utility for Xenogears on this site. (link below) While the tools are explicitly for translation, it would also allow me to edit the text. However when I attempted to familiarize myself with the programs they just wouldn't open. Or I would get an error message like "the code execution cannot proceed because "MFC71.DLL was not found" I have no idea what this means.

If anyone who has experience with this utility, please let me know. Or even if anyone has the tiniest inkling of idea I will gladly hear it.

"MFC71.DLL" is a code library that the utility relies on to run. If you're getting that error, then you need to download the MFC71.dll file and either put it in the same directory as the program or install it on your machine.

Thanks, that fixed the error messages and two of the programs open now.

But there are other programs in the folder that don't have an icon and seem to shut off the moment they start up. I double click it and I see a space light up on the taskbar like any active program, but then it fades away like nothing happened. Not even an icon loads up.

Those are likely command-line programs which you have to run from the Windows command prompt.

You will find a note to that effect in the User's Guide PDF included in the archive.  You did look at the User's Guide before you decided to start asking questions on a message board, right..?

IMPORTANT: this is a command line tool, if you don't
know how to operate with a DOS like environment (such as Windows CMD window),
use Google to find a tutorial.

I have been reading it. Albeit in bits... I'm new to this, what else can I say?
