Ok been playing through the 1st quest and is been a lot of fun! Found the fist glitch. In LVL2, LVL3, LVL5, LVL6, LVL7, LVL8 & LVL9 when you pick up the map it appears over the heart meter(upper left corner) instead of under the name of the level(upper right corner). This does not happen in LVL1 & LVL4.

EDIT1;
Additionally, whenever Link comes out of a dungeon he comes out facing backwards.

EDIT2;
On the screen for the short-cut paths, the one near the graveyard has the stairs in the wrong position. It should be inbetween the rocks but it's up and to the right.

EDIT3;
On the overworld, screen "K6"(alpha horizontal, numeric vertical), there is both a burn bush and a push rock, each opening to a different spot and neither leading anywhere(enter either and it just warps you back to the same screen in the overworld).

EDIT4;
On the overworld screen "P3"(LVL8 entrance) there is a fairy placed but there is also a tree which blocks the refill "trigger" spot.

EDIT5;
In LVL5, there is a screen with stairs that have 3 Blue Skull Bubbles. When entering those stairs is hard-locks the game. There is another set of stairs near the entrance that also hard-lock the game. I'm betting that they were intended to be connected. I looked at the room with an editor and discovered that each set of stairs are not linked to go anywhere, thus the hard-lock.

EDIT6;
In the 1st quest where you find the letter, it is also flagged to be in the 2nd quest, but there is a another location in which a player can also get the letter, effectively having 2 places to get the letter in the 2nd quest.

EDIT7;
In LVL6 Zelda asks "Did you get the sword from the man above the waterfall?", but that location gives the Potion/Heart Container choice in both quests. Also, many rooms were filled with Red Skull Bubbles, but not one Blue Bubble was found anywhere in the level. This needs correction.

EDIT8;
In LVL7 there is a room with a "Grumble, Grumble", yet the room is easily exited with a bomb to the left. Was this intentional? As is, it's a bit pointless.

EDIT9;
In LVL9, in the room where the player is asked "Did you find the Red Tunic?" there is a single block glitch in the wall after the text finishes typing out. In one of the tunnels leading from a Patra the is a Red Tunic in the wall between the stairs(out of reach). And last, after beating "Gannon" the game leaves a key and does not trigger the shudder door leaving the player trapped requiring a reset to escape.

Overall, this looks damn good! I like it a lot. Just needs a bit of love and refinement and this will be a LOZ1 mod that stands out! Very nice!

I was going to indicate the same things. Also, there are also 2 places that give the White Sword(1 as you just exit from the Lost Woods and 1 to the right of the warp staircase at the bottom of the map. 1 needs to be changed to something else.... maybe a heart container.

The Lost Woods looks like the Lost Mountains instead. In my opinion, you should revert back to your original Lost Woods design and just include a burning bush.

UPDATE 9/8/20:

I've updated the things that the bug-testers have told me about in the last reply (except for the maps in dungeons, and the link backwards out of dungeon thing I do not know how to fix that 2nd glitch). I also changed around level 9, and added something extra to get the skull key, so you might wanna play it again to see if it works.

UPDATE 9/9/20:

I've updated and fixed the other things that the bug-testers have told me about that I missed in Zelda Fall of Hyrule v16. The Lost Woods design has been changed, and Link doesn't exit the levels backwards anymore. The only thing I have not fixed is the maps to the First Quest dungeons but thats because if I move the maps to the right like it's supposed to be in this hack, the maps don't show up in the dungeon editor. So until i know everything is fixed in the dungeons, I wont update the maps because I need to edit them.

I understand about the maps Action Gamer. I'll check this latest version out over the next couple of days and report anything I come across.

By the way, did you start working on Quest 2 yet?

Cool! Will give things a run through in a day or two and chime in on what I find. If I may suggest, move the heat container gauge back over to the right side until you can work out the in-level map glitch.

EDIT;
Found a new glitch, the Gambling Game guy no longer says anything. Gambling still works though.

ActionGamer

I cant I dont know how to do that. It's only like that because of the zelda 1 redux patch

What's the current issue with the dungeons, precisely?

When I remade the dungeons in my hack, they shifted back to the left instead of staying on the right. Is there anyway I can change it back?

The problem is with the in-level map. In OG LOZ, the map is on the left and the heart gauge is on the right, but they have been switched and in most of the dungeons the map shows up in the left field with the heart gauge, which doesn't display properly.I talked about this in a post above. It does this in all but two of the dungeons(LVL1 & LVL4).

ShadowOne333

The dungeon maps and HUD changes so the hearts and map are flipped are all done and handled by this ASM code:
https://github.com/ShadowOne333/The-Legend-of-Zelda-Redux/blob/master/code/move_maps.asm

Are you compiling your ROM? Or applying the Redux hacks as IPS patches?
If you are compiling, I suggest doing the following:

1) Compile the hack without the move_maps.asm file. Simply open up the main.asm and comment out the line that includes that file.
2) Do your changes with the compiled ROM, including your dungeon changes and such.
3) After all your changes are done, make a main.asm file that ONLY applies the move_maps.asm file over it, and nothing else, with the base ROM being your modified ROM.
4) You might need to modify the code that starts at Line 166 in the move_maps.asm, as that's the part of the code that draws the actual dungeon maps. You need to put your custom dungeon layout maps in place of these.

With that, it should be able to work.

lexluthermiester

Ok, found another glitch. In LVL4 a room that used to be fine is now a "debug mode" room. See pictures.

UPDATE 9/14/2020:

I managed to fix all of the dungeon maps for Quest 1 so that way they're on the right and not on the left where the hearts are, and I added dungeons for Quest 2 that are from The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Power that you could never access before because it was a one quest only Zelda hack. Also, I fixed some other errors in the over world and dungeons that I and other people have noticed too. However there are two problems with Quest 2's dungeons. The first problem is only Dungeons 1-6 have been changed, and the second problem is the maps for those dungeons are still on the left and not the right. I'll fix them in the next prototype when I have the time to do so.

With that being said The Legend of Zelda: Fall of Hyrule Prototype V19 is ready to be bug tested: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1np0cb3kotkqjxq/Zelda%20Fall%20of%20Hyrule%20%28prototype%20V19%29.ips?dl=0

ShadowOne333

If you are still having issues with the dungeon maps appearing on the left, try looking at the "move_maps.asm" file, most importantly the offsets for where the dungeon map data is handled in the ASM code, which should begin around line 179 in the code.

Each Dungeon map has its own arrangement and PPU Transfer.
You could perhaps repurpose that file for your own project by doing the changes manually through Hex on your end (documenting each change thoroughly on a txt file for reference), and, once you are sure of the changes and are happy with them, then you can modify the move_maps.asm file with your changes, so you can compile said file with no issues.

lexluthermiester

Alright, just wanted to check in about V19. Everything seems good in the dungeons. Only found a couple glitches so far. Minor and I'm sure easily fixed.

The first is with the cave at location O-1(overworld map Horizontal -> Vertical) with messed up text. It start s to say "There a secret in a" and is then followed by glitched out gambling game text. This also happens at B-3 in the Graveyard.

The second is at M-2. Under a Armos is a stairway the lead nowhere. Just pops you back out.

Third is at I-3. When you burn the bush, it opens up like normal. But when you come back out, it puts you on top of a bush. Link doesn't get stuck or anything but it's a bit weird. Easy to fix though.

I'll chime in with more updates as I play through.

EDIT:
Going through LVL4 I found a few minor glitches. There is a room with 3 Blue Wizrobes that is bright Yellow/Gold. Also the room with Gleeok/Fairy has the monster sound triggered which continues after you exit the level from picking up the fairy. Going back in and coming back out turns it off.

EDIT2:
In the overworld when you move up from D-7 to D-6 it's easy to end up in the bushes. Simple fix.

EDIT3:
The potion lady text does not appear.

ActionGamer

Oki I'll fix them, btw did you get the letter for the potion lady before you went to her?

Yes. Otherwise she says nothing.

I found two other glitches.

In LVL8, I found a room with Zelda in it but all that shows is a question mark.

In LVL5, I found a game breaking bug, in the item sub-room with the flute, the flute is out of reach.

I'm about to start LVL 9. If I find anything I'll chime in.

EDIT;
Found a problem in LVL9. In the room in the bottom left corner of the level with the Patra, there is a set of stairs but the block to open access will not move. It seems to be the only way to move forward so I'm stuck there. I've tried bombs and pushing walls elsewhere and that seem to be stopping point.

UPDATE 9-26-2020:

The Legend of Zelda: Fall of Hyrule (Prototype Version 24) has been released to bug test. I've fixed the glitches ev everyone told me about, including a part in level 8 where you get the skull key even though you're now supposed to get it in Level 9. I fixed that problem too.

The rest of the glitches I fixed include:

  • The Potion Lady text not appearing.
  • A Bunch of Armos stairways leading to nowhere.
  • Level 5 you can now get the flute.
  • Text glitches in the over world caves.
  • Burned bush that puts you on top of another bush when you come out into the overworld.
  • A bunch of Overworld fixes.
  • The Zelda question mark glitch in Level 8.
  • The unreachable stairwell in Level 9.
  • And lastly, the 2 level 4 glitches involving sound bytes and wizzrobes.

I haven't tested to see if these things are fixed yet, due to the fact that I don't have time to, due to other things in my life. So please if these glitches are still here, let me know.

I will check it out at some point this weekend.
Same here. Playing through ATM.

EDIT:
Found a game-breaking glitch. In LVL3 when you get to the room with the Manhandla from the transfer stairs, if you go back into the stairs you end up stuck in an item room with no way out.

EDIT2:
The Whistle/Flute in LVL5 is still in an unreachable location(2 floor blocks above the normal location).
