Pokemon Rom Hacking

Greetings, Sky here.

I'm looking to modify Pokemon Black 2 by replacing some sprites (overworld sprites, vs sprites, trainer sprites etc). I spent some time looking around the internet finding tools and instructions for the project but haven't gotten too far. So I'll be asking here in hopes someone knows of the matter and could point me in the right direction, speeding up the process.

What tools do I need? From start to finish. (Opening the ROM, extracting the files, editing the files, recompressing the files etc)
