V1.5 Update! - Political Reference Removed!:

1. A multi-reaction political reference was causing commotion! It has been removed.
2. Changed the prices of the milk in the shield shops for all modes.
3. Added the whirlwind/wave sound to a screen that was missing it in hard mode.

(Note: I waited to post this update because I wanted to find another bug to go along with this.)

Patience as it is in the queue.

Yeah, it's a good idea to avoid things like that in future. They tend to cause uproar with the wildlife. LOL!

V1.6 Update! - Polishing:

https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5455/

Entirely removed door repair trolls from normal mode, they are only in easy and hard mode. In their place, there are now just "false secrets". For example, a crack that won't bomb.
Touched up the overworld ever so slightly in all modes.
Touched up a lot of in-game text, hints, etc.
Minor changes to dungeons, fixed a sequence break in a water dungeon.
Updated the manual, and other such included documents.
Minor sprite/item changes.
Updated this manual, and other such included documents.
Quality of life bug fixes, like screen scroll garbage removal.
Patched out the buggy magic rod hitbox and realigned the sword and magic rod hitbox.
*Thanks to Displaced Gamers, on Youtube!*

You should try hard mode this time around. >:D

But yeah, I was watching some twitch streams and saw some things that needed fixing.
I also realized I needed to make an extra document file that explained a lot of specific minor things about the original game.
For example. The power bracelet only being able to move pushable boulders vertically.
People would get stuck at things like that. Even the Red Bubble cursing the sword was new to some people, they thought the game was bugged! :o
So now I made a document that basically teaches you about all those minor things, even about how Darknuts and bombs work lol.

To be honest, I was tired of watching people waste all their bombs on a single Darknut that was running straight towards them, just for them to think that the darknut is all of a sudden invincible to the bombs. It was really sad to watch  :'( :olol. Now they can choose to avoid those problems by reading the new doc.

I tried patching the latest Easy version. It corrupts the rom. I'm using the correct rom, which worked with the previous version.

Have you tested the latest easy patch?

Hmm, that is strange. I just patched it again with zero problems. Care to send some screenshots? :-\
If it opens with a Black or Gray screen that could mean you are using the Prg1 ROM.

Perhaps you need to rename patched ROM, or delete save files.

Solved it. Thanks for the help guys.

It did indeed turn grey on startup.
Always had the idea that Rev A and PRG0 was the same. Turns out I was mistaken.

Could anyone explain how Rev and PRG lines up?
I used to think it went like this:

Rev A = PRG0
Rev B = PRG1
Rev C = PRG2
...and so on

(Quoted)Actually, "Rev" stands for revision. So whatever ROM is listed without a revision would be the original version.
Initial ROM versions have no specifier. However, versions 2 of a game ROM and above were marked first with an "A" for the first revision, then a "B" for the second revision, and so on. (Quoted)

So let's just say for an Ocarina of Time cartridge if you looked on the back of the cartridge you may see 2 numbers. If there were no numbers, it is an intial release.

So no numbers= First release.
XXA = first revision
XXB = second revision

But in other cases PRGX will be used, wherein PRG0 would be the initial release, PRG1 would be the same as RevA and in very rare cases PRG2 would mean RevB.

Kinda confusing I know lol.

Debes haber parcheado los .ips a PRG1 por accidente. ¡Me alegro de que esté funcionando ahora!

Translation: You must've patched the .ips to the PRG1 ROM by accident. Glad it's working now!

February 20, 2022, 09:37:15 PM - (Auto Merged - Double Posts are not allowed before 7 days.)

After a long few days, I've arrived with what I hope to be the final update! :woot!: :o :D

V1.7 - (HOPEFULLY) FINAL UPDATE:
-The sword hitbox was a huge inaccurate annoyance in the last update. It is now fixed.
-Final text revisions. Hints are perfect and just right. None should feel useless.
-Major dungeon palette revisions for the lava and ice type dungeons. Ice dungeons aren't pure eyestrain anymore.
-Minor dungeon problems fixed. Such as dark rooms causing palette glitches, and Gleeok not breathing fire.
-Made Lava more realistic. If a room is unlit and contains lava, lava continues to act as a low light source.
-Minor overworld corrections, switched a few entrances.
-Optional patch "PoD Brighter Blue Hud.ips" added.
-Dungeon music now mirrors the dungeons' difficulty. Death Mountain theme is used for the more treacherous dungeons.

here's a glimpse at how lava continues to light the dark rooms.

It's live! :woot!: :D

V1.8 02/24/2023 - Classic mode added! + Anti Epilepsy:

1. A new mode called, "Classic Mode" is now included as a difficulty patch! This mode retains the numerous
vanilla aspects of the original game, including retaining the original sword strengths and removing the bomb
visual cues. This difficulty mode should closely match that of the original 1986 classic!
2. All difficulties now have their own respective title screen logo colors and different death themes.
3. Anti Epilepsy. Greatly reduced any and all traces of screen flashing so as to reduce seizure risk.
Collecting a pendant, defeating Vaati, and after Princess Zelda expresses gratitude, are all the flashes
   affected.
4. Graphical updates to the armos, fairies, and the "Link" pixel art in the title openings for all
   difficulties.
5. Adjustments to every difficulty mode. Further details are in the "Choosing your difficulty.txt" text file.
6. Overworld beautifying, especially the lava beach in the southwestern corner, and the ice beach at the
   southeastern corner.
7. Made more use of traps in the overworld.
8. A heart piece location in quest 2 has been moved to a more sensible spot in the lava region.
9. Removed the shutter door in the entrance of level-3 of quest 2 to prevent using the door unlock glitch to
   open it.
10. Adjustments to Level-9 in quest 2, you can no longer skip an important fight.
11. Adjusted the hint for the Ice Maze to be more straightforward.
12. Moved the ice region fairy to the location of the sword shop.
13. All mentions of the sword shop have been changed to say "blacksmith".
14. Renamed a couple of items in the opening title scroll.
15. Final text revision.
16. Added a hint somewhere to help find Level-9 in quest 1.
17. Added a hint somewhere to help find Level-7 in quest 2.
18. Fixed the staircase passageway palettes from changing when obtaining the blue mail in quest 2.
19. Removed the whirlwind that can sometimes force you to touch it after the Ice maze. (This doesn't apply to
    Hard mode)
20. Made Hard mode harder once again...
===============================================================================================================
I also included this message in the difficulty selector.
I must point out immediately that this hack was intentionally made for a niche target audience! This hack is
targeted toward veterans of the original game and more experiened players. There are very specific things that aren't
explained to you in-game, based on the assumption that you have played and beaten both quests of the original.
For example, at no point in-game will the hack tell you that there are walls in dungeons that you can walk through.
That is common knowledge if you have completed the original games' quest 1 and 2!
Knowing that most people that will download a hack of the original Zelda game, a game that is 30+ years old, highly likely have played
the original game many times already, it is natural to go for an approach of higher difficulty. So that is exactly what I did.

Noting everything that I just said... I really wanted to have just one difficulty mode, but I realize that it is still possible
for newcomers to want to try out a hack intended for veterans. Not wanting to bar those people off entirely, I have made 2 easier modes-
Easy and Classic. To those newcomers, I highly encourage that you play and beat the two quests of the original game as to avoid playing easy mode.
The easier modes of this hack, lack the hardships, original vision, and rewarding nature of the normal and hard modes, which in turn affects satisfaction.
You will have a more valuable and memorable experience playing the normal mode as opposed to the easy mode.

I really hope this is the last update.  :o

Patience, as it is in queue.
