I got a new PC recently, just waiting for the monitor to get here. That unfortunately won't mean much since I still haven't heard about the build script or the SMB1 sprites. However I did have a thought, would anyone be interested in a "Vanilla" version of the "separate graphics for SMB1 and Lost Levels" hack?
The enemy sprites would be the same as they are in the main game, but the tiles in SMB1 would look more like they did on the NES and Lost Levels would look more like they did on Famicom Disk System. Mario and the powerups would also likely be the same but I might alter them a little so they don't have black outlines and match the rest of the sprites in the game better. SMB3 would be unaltered and SMB2 might just have the overall and shirt colors on Mario and Luigi swapped, no pallet altering.
Just tired of having nothing to offer. As far as I know, i'm the only one that's done different sprites for Lost Levels ( though the credit should go to DarkSamus, they made it possible, I just drew the pictures. ) So I figure maybe people who don't like the new sprites might enjoy the option of playing a more faithful lost levels without them.
Hello, I hope you are well, I have been following this project for quite a long time, but I have never created a romhacking.net account until now. I would like to encourage you in this project that will make Super Mario All Stars the best Mario game on Super Nintendo. I will download the hack as soon as it is released (I already played the Super Mario Bros 2 demo and it was great, keep it up). Unfortunately, I can't help you to modify the game because I have no experience in this field. I would also like to know how the hack of Classic Kong, the remake of Donkey Kong on Super Nintendo, is going. Thank you for reading this message, I hope you will be happy with the result of this hack. Goodbye and good luck !
Haven't touched classic Kong since the last update. It was just a fun little "what if" idea that I wasn't sure I wanted to do yet. I can't quite get Mario to look right and I don't even know what direction I want to take him in since there are so many different versions of Donkey Kong. I based DK off his appearance in DK '94 but Mario in that game is essentially just his modern look, and it would be boring to me to just go with that.
I know this might not be included in the project due to hardware limitations, but I made this using Mit and SuperSludgeBro's Mario sprites for the body, and the Mario Head from Hotel Mario. This is the result:

Those work surprisingly well but there is something off about them I just can't put my finger on, but I don't really know where those would fit in anyway. We've already got sprites for SMB2,3, and Lost Levels, we're really just waiting for the SMB1 sprites from Metal Wario 64.
I downloaded the demo, it only has SMB2, is the game complete?
If it were complete I would think the whole thing would be in the OP instead of just a demo. SMB2 is the only game I consider fully complete, that's why I released a demo. The only thing it doesn't have is color pallet edits that will be in the final game.
I think I could get SMB1 and Lost Levels to a complete enough state that I can make demos of those too. SMB3 is the most incomplete, it's mostly just Mario and Luigi's sprites and a bunch of really tedious things related to the various powerups and the map screen, it's kind of a mess to deal with since it's so scattered in YYCHR.
Was anyone able to figure out how to edit all the sprites in super Mario world so they can get upgraded too?
You would be the one who's been messaging me on tumblr I take it.
I appreciate you trying to help, but I need to make one thing clear, I have ZERO intention of making a Super Mario All-Stars+World hack, and I'm not even going to THINK about hacking stand alone SMW until All-Stars is done, and I will only do it if someone can make the it so easy that even a caveman can change the colors of the bosses, and possibly make it so that changing the color of a Koopa Troopa won't also change the color of at least 5 other enemies as well. SMW is the most hacked game in the world as far as I know, so the fact that nobody has just went ahead and fixed the Koopalings to have 100% accurate colors to their artwork by now should tell you something. Even SMW redrawn gives the Koopalings white hair as far as I'm aware.
