pocket: your project is amazing don't give up, the suggestions you said i just found the part of mario saves Peach, Luigi saves Daisy, this may even be easy for you to add, you know i'll be doing smw several times just with mario never with Luigi, in this case I would end with luigi too because the end would be different, it seems that the whole difficulty will be in SMB3 for what you said, but it goes with patience that works, this games will be remarkable and not just another hack from Mario

A few people earlier in the thread mentioned the possibility of adding things to this project that I myself cannot do like giving Luigi his own physics or allowing every false Bowser to have unique graphics, or to alter Peach's graphics depending on who the player is playing as ( ie, Mario saves Peach, Luigi saves Daisy ) and some other cool things that may lengthen the time this hack takes.

Don't feel pressured to add every single thing the users suggest. Better to focus on the things you originally set out to do before adding too much to the scope of the project.
Best wishes to you. Take your time, have fun!

Are there are going to be any sprite sheets based on the sprites that you've made?

I don't plan to make any sprite sheets personally, putting the sprites together in YYCHR is tedious enough as it is. But I welcome anyone who wants the sprites to rip them. I don't really care about credit, but I don't want to give them away to anyone who isn't helping out with this hack until after the hack is released, so please wait until then.

Now, I've successfully done a system restore, and all the programs that stopped working, including YYCHR and my emulators, are working again, so crisis averted  ( computer is still a slow piece of junk though )

You all will be happy to know that the VG Resource is now accepting Fan ROM-Made Sprites and Backgrounds from any Fan-Made Game.

Whether it be Mario, Sonic, etc., you'll be able to post the Custom ROM sprites there.

So good luck to anyone who can rip the sprites and stuff from this game.

Hey, this looks really cool, I love projects that try to bring games closer to their boxart. I just have one question, will it be possible to do this for Super Mario Advance 1 & 4? I think those are the best versions of those games and I'd love to see them with these sprites.

I took a look at the Super Mario Advance games in YYCHR and could not figure out how to do anything with it. So if somebody does decide that it's a project worth tackling, then I give them my full blessing to use my sprites for such a project once the SNES versions are done.  Don't expect me to make a Yoshi's Island version though, that game looks perfect the way it is anyway.  I have to imagine GBA hacking isn't as easy as SNES hacking though or we'd have a billion Super Mario World for GBA hacks already. The ability to switch off between Mario and Luigi with different sprites and abilities with no weird bugs seems to be a white whale of the SMW hacking community.

Hello, I hope you are well, I have been following this project for quite a long time, but I have never created a romhacking.net account until now. I would like to encourage you in this project that will make Super Mario All Stars the best Mario game on Super Nintendo. I will download the hack as soon as it is released (I already played the Super Mario Bros 2 demo and it was great, keep it up). Unfortunately, I can't help you to modify the game because I have no experience in this field. I would also like to know how the hack of Classic Kong, the remake of Donkey Kong on Super Nintendo, is going. Thank you for reading this message, I hope you will be happy with the result of this hack. Goodbye and good luck !

I know this might not be included in the project due to hardware limitations, but I made this using Mit and SuperSludgeBro's Mario sprites for the body, and the Mario Head from Hotel Mario. This is the result:

I downloaded the demo, it only has SMB2, is the game complete? ;D

You answered your own question there. It's only a demo right now.
Mega Man 7 > 3 > 2 > 9 > Wily Wars > 10 > V(GB) > 5 > 6 > 4 > Powered Up > 1 > The Power Fighters > The Power Battle > IV(GB) > III(GB) > II(GB) > Dr. Wily's Revenge(GB) > 8 > Mega Man and Bass > Mega Man (Game Gear) > Mega Man and Bass - Challengers from the Future

Was anyone able to figure out how to edit all the sprites in super Mario world so they can get upgraded too?

I got a new PC recently, just waiting for the monitor to get here. That unfortunately won't mean much since I still haven't heard about the build script or the SMB1 sprites.  However I did have a thought, would anyone be interested in a "Vanilla" version of the "separate graphics for SMB1 and Lost Levels" hack?

The enemy sprites would be the same as they are in the main game, but the tiles in SMB1 would look more like they did on the NES and Lost Levels would look more like they did on Famicom Disk System.  Mario and the powerups would also likely be the same but I might alter them a little so they don't have black outlines and match the rest of the sprites in the game better. SMB3 would be unaltered and SMB2 might just have the overall and shirt colors on Mario and Luigi swapped, no pallet altering.

Just tired of having nothing to offer.  As far as I know, i'm the only one that's done different sprites for Lost Levels  ( though the credit should go to DarkSamus, they made it possible, I just drew the pictures. ) So I figure maybe people who don't like the new sprites might enjoy the option of playing a more faithful lost levels without them.

Haven't touched classic Kong since the last update. It was just a fun little "what if" idea that I wasn't sure I wanted to do yet.  I can't quite get Mario to look right and I don't even know what direction I want to take him in since there are so many different versions of Donkey Kong.  I based DK off his appearance in DK '94 but Mario in that game is essentially just his modern look, and it would be boring to me to just go with that.

Those work surprisingly well but there is something off about them I just can't put my finger on, but I don't really know where those would fit in anyway.  We've already got sprites for SMB2,3, and Lost Levels, we're really just waiting for the SMB1 sprites from Metal Wario 64.

If it were complete I would think the whole thing would be in the OP instead of just a demo.   SMB2 is the only game I consider fully complete, that's why I released a demo. The only thing it doesn't have is color pallet edits that will be in the final game.
I think I could get SMB1 and Lost Levels to a complete enough state that I can make demos of those too.  SMB3 is the most incomplete, it's mostly just Mario and Luigi's sprites and a bunch of really tedious things related to the various powerups and the map screen, it's kind of a mess to deal with since it's so scattered in YYCHR.

You would be the one who's been messaging me on tumblr I take it.
I appreciate you trying to help, but I need to make one thing clear, I have ZERO intention of making a Super Mario All-Stars+World hack, and I'm not even going to THINK about hacking stand alone SMW until All-Stars is done, and I will only do it if someone can make the it so easy that even a caveman can change the colors of the bosses, and possibly make it so that changing the color of a Koopa Troopa won't also change the color of at least 5 other enemies as well.  SMW is the most hacked game in the world as far as I know, so the fact that nobody has just went ahead and fixed the Koopalings to have 100% accurate colors to their artwork by now should tell you something.  Even SMW redrawn gives the Koopalings white hair as far as I'm aware.

Sincere apologies for being absent these few days. Life has just been happening for me and I unfortunately am unable to pick up.

If there's anything spritewise that I can do, please let me know. I'll do them, just it may take me longer than usual to do them.

UltraEpicLeader100

Do you have any idea of box art you'd use for the hack or is it just "Reuse Super Mario All-Star's normal box art with no subtitle for the 'Redrawn' portion of the hack's name."

I mean the whole thread's been dead because the project is kind of halted. This hack is my responsibility so there there's no need for anyone but myself to apologize for a lack of activity at all. But if you really want something to do, maybe take a stab at any of these, as I feel very unsatisfied with them.

SMB1 Hammer Bro
SMB1 Bushes
SMB1 Bowser
SMB3 Priranha Plants
SMB3 Fire Plants
SMB3 Hammer/Boomerang/Fire Bro
SMB3 Power-Ups  ( these are honestly a suprisingly large headache for me, partly because of inconsistencies in the art, the sprites, and larger sprites in-game like the mushroom house slot matching game, but also because there's like a million variations on the power-up and I can't tell which is which, SMB3's sprites are arranged in such a messy way that they're the most tedious to work with )

I haven't thought about that at all, I didn't think there would be a need for box art if it's just a romhack, but then again I guess some people like to add romhacks to SNES classic, retropie, or launchbox, so maybe it's worth thinking about, but that's more of a "last steps" thing to worry about...  honestly, since the main focus was being true to the original art, I think it should either use existing art from the classic games, or somebody who is an expert at re-creating that look can make some box art if they feel.  I can draw alright but I am very amaturish.  The only thing I can say for sure is that it would make me really upset if somebody just slapped modern Mario renders on the cover and called it a day, it's honestly a pet peeve of mine how often modern renders get used in things for classic games like romhack box art, overlays, or frontend themes. Feels a bit like putting Ben Affleck and Jared Leto on the cover of a Batman '89 DVD. Know what I mean?

Anyway, seems there's not a lot of interest for a non-redrawn version of the split SMB1/TLL graphics hack, eh?

I'm not surprised. I'm mean, the whole appeal of your project is your redrawn sprites, which I think look fantastic. I feel like you're being overly critical about yourself when it comes to things like the SMB1 Bowser and Hammer Bros. But this is your project, so I don't blame you for being a perfectionist about it. I really hope it sees completion someday.
