Good Switch Stuff to Get Early On?
« on: November 30, 2019, 03:14:10 pm »
Semi-followup to my PS4 thread (now that the PS4's dead and I  have a Switch Lite coming in the mail soon).

What's some good (lesser-talked-about maybe?) stuff to get for a Switch Lite? I'm being lent Xenoblade 2 and Super Mario Odyssey and plan on playing DQXIS's demo once the data cap here resets with intent to get DQXIS if I get xmas money.

Other than that, physical-wise I intend to get FE: Three Houses and Pokemon Shield fairly early on relatively speaking.

Digitally I want to get Star Ocean First Departure R sometime this month.

Bonus points if it's console-only games you suggest or Switch-exclusive!

The Ittle Dew series is great, it's like classic Zelda but with all the puzzles turned to eleven, the only thing that holds them back is kinda clunky combat( it improved in the second game though).

I suggest you subscribe to online services. You get about 80 NES and SNES games for free. It's my favorite part of the Switch.

I just got a switch, and I picked up a mix of AAA and Indie Games. The list might help you discover some new stuff.

Switch Exclusives
* Splatoon 2
* Super Mario Odyssey
* Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle ($15 through tomorrow from Target)
* Cadence of Hyrule
* Dragon: Marked for Death (made by the team behind Megaman Zero/ZX. 30% off through tomorrow on the eShop)

Non-Exlcusive
* Ori and the Blind Forest
* Hollow Knight
* Valkyria Chronicles (half off through tomorrow from the eShop)

Games I have not purchased yet, but plan to:
* Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX
* Into the Breach
* Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mask

Games I own on other systems, but would still recommend:
* Zelda: Breath of the Wild
* New Super Mario Bros U
* Shovel Knight
* Celeste
* Cosmic Star Heroine

If it's your type of thing, Hollow Knight is a *steal* at $15.

True. The amount of content in that game would easily justify a $40 price tag. It's also, in my opinion, the best Action Platformer (aka Metroidvania) ever made.

I would recommend the following titles (my top 10 list):

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2. Team Sonic Racing
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA
5. Collection of Mana
6. Octopath Traveler
7. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
8. Dragon Ball FighterZ
9. Mario Tennis Aces
10. Super Mario Odyssey

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening would also be a nice RPG to choose, but only if you like chibi style art and the original GB/GBC game since this is a remake of it. Of course, there's plenty of other good RPGs available as well as other genres of games if you prefer those instead of this one.

Well, I finished Act 2 of DQXI and Pokemon Shield recently (got lent DQXI and someone got me Shield). Now thinking of getting FFXII or Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition. Do either have issues in Handheld mode? Also, how is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Switch?

Can't speak for Vesperia, but FF12 worked fine in handheld mode.
