This project looks awesome. I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.

Do you think eventually you could patch in the title screen music?

I think this game is a much better fit on the Gameboy, but man that NES title music is so good, and its just silence on the GB.

Injected Da_GPer graphics. Unfortunately, had to cut some tiles since they were not respecting GBC limitations. But still, looking pretty good!

Alpha v2 patch is in the first post.

I Played The Alpha Patch On Dr. Mario For The Game Boy/Game Boy Color And When I Played It... This Keeps Happening Even During GamePlay.

(Yes, I'm Playing This Game On BGB Emulator And It's Running In GBC Mode, But Why Is This Game All Messy?)

What ROM are you using? Base rom must be:
no-intro: Dr. Mario (World) (Rev 1).gb
CRC32: F0225DD0

Does your ROM ends up being 64kb?

I Might've Used This Rom "Dr. Mario (JU) (V1.0) [!].gb", Sorry About That... But Anyway, Great Job With The Project.

That's the problem then. You must use the v1.1 ROM.

I used v1.1 as the base ROM since it contains a few more levels than the 1.0.

What was wrong with the Dr. Mario sprites I made? I thought that it was using the correct three colors. Anyways, I can try redoing parts to make it fit better.

They will be injected, don't worry. I just need to find some free time.

However, since black HUD seems to look better, Dr. Mario sprites must be redone in ROM, switching black and white colors.

Oh. I'm sorry. Anyways, I'll be working on fixing up the bottle and score area as well as other things.

EDIT: I did some really good changes, but I am just waiting for marc_max to give me his opinion on it first before I show everyone else it. I'm sure this one will work in game.

Bad news. I ran out off palettes

Dr. Mario sprite will need to stay in white background. It would be definitely possible to fix that, but I do not want to spend much time on this hack.

Alpha 3 released.

Additions:
  • title screen is now fully colored!
  • fixed pause screen
  • regression!: Dr. Mario sprite palette is wrong
To-do:
  • fix Dr. Mario palette
  • fix multiplayer mode, which is broken right now
  • set correct attributes to game clear popup when clearing all viruses

I would like to get into this. Do you have any tutorial / how you started?

Any info would be appreciated.  There's so many games that could use a good colorizing.

It's basically a reverse engineer process.
You need to know how GB and GBC work at low level.

I think that was mentioned before:

Alpha 3 released.

Additions:
  • title screen is now fully colored!
  • fixed pause screen
  • regression!: Dr. Mario sprite palette is wrong
To-do:
  • fix Dr. Mario palette
  • fix multiplayer mode, which is broken right now
  • set correct attributes to game clear popup when clearing all viruses
Also, I think you can make Mario work with that palette if you shift the colours for his overall and his outline, and change the outline color to white instead of brown. It should look something like this:

It's not ideal, but works with the current limitations.

Or he can use my Dr. Mario sprite, which looks good and would work.

Yup, it would be great if the title screen music could be hacked in, along with the inter-stage music, but that is probably beyond the scope of this project.  (And besides, it's not like anyone spends a lot of time dwelling on the title screen or between stages.)
This signature is an illusion and is a trap devised by Satan. Go ahead dauntlessly! Make rapid progres!
