Also, this new patch should be the version 2.0 (in order to update the entry of the database).

Looking at the difference between the patched ROMs, it seems like the only changes are fixing the incorrect number in Lava Shot's description, and a bunch of changes to dialogue (which includes the newline issue that was causing crashes, but not the untranslated text).

There are a minor number of dialogue fixes but some of the UNTRANSLATED textboxes are still there. I'm going to keep updating this WIP patch for a bit more before officially updating it as a version 2.0. If you're interested in testing and reporting bugs and typos that would be appreciated!

This patch is a standalone and should be applied on the original.

It's been a long time, but here's a patch that I built from some commits I made a few years ago but never updated the patch with. It should contain some of the fixes for the freezing bugs but please post any other issues you encounter here!

Have a "New Game" button here, so maybe change emulators or you patched something wrong.

You need to set the save type to Automatic and Flash 64 KB.

I’m a little late to the party, but I’m so pumped to play this! I first played Magical Starsign in high school and was never able to find another game that delivered the same charm and feel. Thank you for your work in translating this! Excited to play through it like everyone else. :)

Hello, I really love your english translation of Magical Vacation. I wonder if it's possible to make a french one using your work as a base. And if it's ok, can you help me and explain to me about how the pointers works for this game ?

I assume the pointers for the names of Items, Characters, Spirits, Spells have a specific length, but what about the ones for dialogs, categories in menus and the intro in which you customize the character.

leaving a couple of fixes here in case anyone wants to apply them without having to wait for a release:

graphical corruption when leveling magic: change the 2 bytes starting at offset 0x1650C to 0x30 0x70. this changes an instruction from strh to strb. the value written by this instruction is later used to calculate where to write the tiles for the magic level up text into the video ram, and using strh here results in the value being too high and the tiles being written into the place background tiles are stored instead of the place text tiles are

restoring the noises during dialogue: not sure if anyone actually noticed this, but in the untranslated rom characters make noises when speaking (similar to golden sun, for example), and this no longer happens after applying the patch. the problem here is that in order to know whether a character is speaking, the game checks for the japanese quote character, which is encoded by 0x3B. under the encoding used in the translation, 0x3B is now a semicolon and dialogue begins with a dot (encoded by 0x40) instead, but the code still checks for 0x3B. this can be fixed by going to offset 0xC358 and changing the next 6 bytes to 0x01 0x0C 0x08 0x0A 0x40 0x28
