Oh I forgot that HiROM does also mirror into 32KB banks in banks $80-BF.
Typically I've seen HiROM use banks $C0+ where the full 64KB is mapped to ROM.

(though there are weird mappings like how RPG Maker 1 is a LoROM game but maps bank $F0 to SRAM which is probably why the game broke in most early emulators.)

Okay, so I've had several people moaning at me outside of this thread about this stupid game, so I've uploaded an IPS of the current state of affairs as they were in July 2019 (yes, I haven't worked on it at all in four months).

There's not much left to do, but I have more important things in my life right now. I thought it had been the rule that things are done when they're done, but clearly some people didn't get the memo. As I've already mentioned previously, there's an excellent FAQ on GameFAQs that tells you everything that my hack will. If I can get back to ROM hacking at some point, I'll get this done. Even though I'm sick of it.

Hi Psyklax,

that's really nice work you did there! I'm very impressed from the Name Selection Screen - that must have been horrible to modify!

If you ever want to continue that translation perhaps these infos help a little:

The stages 11-13 are included in the normal Super Bomberman 5. To unlock them use a Hudson Super Joy Card controller. Have the X switch on the controller set to the middle and on the title screen hold X for about 6 seconds. A sound will confirm on success.
If you play with an emulator you can use a hexeditor and change byte $01EA in the SRAM from $00 to $FF.

Some time ago I hacked around in that ROM too. I took some notes about the Stage Selection Sprites. You can find them here.

Feel free to use this if it helps.

The space for the sprite-data was very limited and I solved this problem by moving the memory area from $03DC4A-$03FFFF  to $0CDC4A-$0CFFFF. Therefor the pointer at $0016DE was changed to point at $8CDC4A.

Hi Svambo! Is there an IPS patch to unlock those stages permanently? Recently a patch was released for 2, 3, and 4, but none for 5.

Just today i was asking myself if this project was to be put to rest, or maybe continue someday.
