I kind of wonder how they do detect SRAM on SMS/GG games.
Is it some kind of database?
Or is it heuristics? (I think SRAM uses a certain Sega mapper, or at least requires setting a mapper register to make the bankable memory RAM rather than ROM?)
I think official western SMS and maybe GG games had a product code in the header, did they?
That could be used for identifying games for database purposes, but it still leaves the problem of Japanese SMS games which I heard rarely had proper headers, since SG-1000 and its variants didn't either.
