Turned on sword orb farming and progressive weapon growth.  Yet I seem unable to get any sword orbs in the fortress.  Yes, I've found the room with the snowmen.  No sword orb drops, and I've gotten every other one.

They actually drop the Sword Orb, but only if you defeat them in a polymorphed state.

You can beat them when they're not polymorphed?  I thought they were completely invincible if they're not polymorphed.

They tend to selfdestruct, when attacking spells are used against them in their true form. But said selfdestruction is not counted as a normal defeat. It is more of a despawn.

Wait wait.  So I have to just tank their unslaught of spells until they change form?  And then beat them, but not using spells?

To clarify, magic which does damage causes them to despawn in their true state.
If you use Luna's Polymorph, they become sitting ducks and can be defeated with conventual means.

Umh, this is a little late, and Queue seems to take a break, but I couldn't run SOM Turbo patchers anymore. Basically all SOM Turbo versions since around 2020 up to 210502 and 210610. I installed dotNet 4.0 and even dotNet 4.5.2 to no avail. When being run, those patchers will give error message about mscorlib.dll and quit. However, the old 191227 works ok with the same dotNet 4.0. Anybody else had the same problem?

Since the beginning, I have always gotten a crash when trying to use the patcher, but it still seems to patch the game fine despite the crash.

hmsong

Hmm.  Never had a problem.  And I tried all versions, including the most recent one.  Maybe you have a weird ROM?

So you get a crash when you apply the hacks, but the rom is patched fine anyway? Weird.

I don't think so, the rom is greenlighted by the 191227 patcher. Dunno what's wrong here. Do I need to install VC2014+ runtime too? Or install Mono instead of dotNet? I should have had checked this much earlier, but I waited for the latest Reborn and other new interesting features to be fully incorporated.

That's right. I'm on Windows 7 with .NET Framework 4.8.

Sigh, I guess my remaining option now is to install dotNet 4.8 and see whether SOM Turbo 2020+ will work this time. Thanks, Stifu

Mr X

Hopefully at least Queue is doing fine lol, seems quite a while since I saw him post here

Anyway I restarded the game but removing the zelda like feature turbo presents. I am starting to feel like that approach would have worked if it wasn't so easy for you to stunlock enemies + makes weapon charging a bit more worth it, and in the end I think I prefer some sort of "tired" system, dark souls like lol.

So my rom now contains all other deafult features, with monsters double the hp, and raised their MP a lot more so they don't run so fast out of them especially having access to MP absorb, deafult spirit levels, weapon/magic grinding kept at minimum value so they don't take forever to level up, I think it's gonna be fun.

I hope Queue is doing well too.  I asked him some question earlier, but he didn't respond even after a week, which is very unlike him.

If you're gonna play without Turbo mode, I suggest you to not do double HP.  It takes forever to level grind.

I hardly grind tbh, the armor does most of the stat boosting anyway, I grind indirectly however when aiming to get some equipment from enemies however.

Also I am still beating them rather fast even with that 2x HP option

Yeah, haven't seen them in a while. Hope all is well!...

I'm still alive. And fine. Just no time for Secret of Mana at the moment. Refreshing download links in the first post (and here):

I do want to look into what could be causing .NET issues for the patcher. It is a bit Frankenstein's Monster'd, but I did have it work everywhere that I tried. I did all testing and development on Win7 and have tested on Win10 and Ubuntu. Internally, it's:
TargetFramework(".NETFramework,Version=v4.5.2")
So when I can get back to this, that's what I'll be looking at first.

Perhaps it might be time to upload this to a proper RHDN project page so you don't have to worry about download links. I will happily do this for you if you don't have the time. Many of us who have been following this project feel it is ready. But this will not be done without your consent.

Heeey!  I'm glad you're doing alright.  How's everything?  I heard US is bad, because of inflation and covid.

Pretty sure I remember Queue is from Canada.
