Why don't you like SMB2?

DanielFA

No reason, just a matter of taste: I can't see it as a SMB game unlike the others (SMB1, SMB2J, SMB3 and SMW)... :P

Ok, so this project is not dead. I'm only sleeping. But I've picked this up and will do more levels. And I've added more bosses from Yellow Submarine.

It was quite tricky to repurpose Fryguy into the Dreadful Flying Glove. Thanks iridium_ionizer for the graphics btw.

Fryguy uses mirrored animations and that messed up the graphics.

Fryguy animations starts att 620A
Change a0 values. Example A0:D2 Change the D2 into C6 or something else. That's the graphic tiles.

It's all too much. I don't want to spoil the party. She's a woman, and I love her.

Love you, too!

Looks fantastic and thanks for the shout-out. In the the movie Glove contorts himself into different "gestures," so I think this boss gives you a fair amount of leeway into what he looks like in the animations.

Okay, this is such a random idea for a hack. And I love that. Can't wait to see more. If you want help with graphics I could spruce some up for ya.

Looking great! Always cool to see the Beatles get some love in modern day.

Side note: Would you be willing to document the steps you took to make this hack? I'd specifically love some kind of palette documentation + any other tips or tricks to make SMB2 hacking easier. I only ask because I'd like to make my own Spirited Away hack of SMB2 sometime in the future.
Mega Man 7 > 3 > 2 > 9 > Wily Wars > 10 > V(GB) > 5 > 6 > 4 > Powered Up > 1 > The Power Fighters > The Power Battle > IV(GB) > III(GB) > II(GB) > Dr. Wily's Revenge(GB) > 8 > Mega Man and Bass > Mega Man (Game Gear) > Mega Man and Bass - Challengers from the Future

Nesdraug is the main developer of this hack, so it's up to him if he decides to document and share the process.
However I'm also planning to do a SMB2 hack myself and for what I know, on the level editors such as SMB2edit you can modify palettes and graphics and which music will play. However, no music tool exists as of now. I did the music for this Beatles hack, and did it via hex editing and consulting documentation such as the github disassembly of SMB2 and datacrystal website to learn how to do it. Specially on the disassembly, you can see where is pretty much everything and what could you do if you have enough ASM experience or even via hex editing if you can managed to do that.

Thanks for letting me know. The music editing and implementation will probably be over my head, but I can always give it a try. Will definitely try out SMB2 Edit in the future.

Alright, so I just wanted to say that I've finished my studies and I've got a new job. So things are settling down and  I'll be finishing up this hack this summer. It would be really cool if I was able to finish it in time for the 52:nd anniversary of Yellow Submarine (17 July 1968: World première of Yellow Submarine) but I won't promise anything. But: ":  ;D It won't be long, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah it won't be long.   ;D "

I can't wait to play this with my girlfriend, she's a Beatles maniac and likes Mario too, so this will be a good time!

Even if I weren't interested in this for that reason, I want to applaud how well done this already looks and sounds. Great work NesDraug and Shauing!

This hack is still in development. This summer I secured a steady job and can finally put hours into this game every week. Here's the first 4 worlds. (I'm currently working on world 6).

Hehehe

Gee, I wonder if the Sea of Science and the Sea of Holes don't exactly make for inspiring level design aesthetics on the NES? And for completely opposite reasons, weirdly enough

The Sea of Science is way too many colors and geometric shapes distorting and stuff for a NES to ever handle. And the sea of holes is literally just that. Levels that are only two colors (and mostly white at that) I think were also hard to pull off on the NES simply because it limits the palette too much, I would think.

Still, what is done is highly impressive. I'm hearing Eleanor Rigby in my head even. Nicely done.

Thanks, well The Sea of Science was cut entirely from the game, as was The Sea of Time since I just had no idea how to represent it.

The Sea of Holes with Jeremy The Boob is actually one level (level 2-3, instead of a whole world)
