Japanese (Java) Mobile Phone Games
« on: November 10, 2018, 09:18:30 am »
Hi, I have a few Japanese mobile phone games that I want someone to crack the encryption on (they're encrypted as .SB1 files once moved off the phone). Mainly I am in interested in Seiken Densetsu Mobile, which I would also like to translate (I am a translator.) No one seems to be doing anything about these games and there are a lot of interesting ones. Thanks in advance if anyone can help or recommend someone to ask.

What model of phone do you have, and how did you extract the files in the first place? I have an AU phone and I want to get my games extracted and preserved.

One of the later docomo phones, which lets you copy apps to micro sd. If you can't do that I imagine it's going to be pretty complicated.

Shoot.

With an AU phone, the data transfer application doesn't display an app for transfer unless the creator of the app chose to allow it, so I can only transfer stuff like pictures and personal data.

I suppose I'd have to find some sort of phone hacker.

Thanks for the reply.

No problem. I think it probably depends on the model with au as well... I had one previously and I think I could do so.

The encryption is a general format applied to different files that are transferred from the phone. Must be crackable...

There's was definitely something of a phone cracking scene back when Nokia smartphones started to appear, but I wouldn't know of any place or person you could go to these days where you could benefit from that expertise.
Perhaps MAME devs have some clue, they should have contacts with people dumping various stuff.

I assume the exported file is encrypted with a key that is stored on the phone?

Excited about this, there's a lot of cool Japanese J2ME games that seemed to have just vanished.
