For those of you struggling to compile this, you actually need to rename the BS F-Zero Grand Prix ROM to "F-Zero_GP2.sfc", and place both ROMs in the F-Zero_Final folder before running the batch file.

I can confirm that Final is running on SNES9x just fine.

I would also like to note that the current build is unable to display the Ace League on the Records screen; will there be an overhaul to allow for more than three leagues to be displayed onscreen?

Grego

Shockwave - There is an installer for fzfinal now. No need to mess with compiling from source. Yes, the records screen will be fixed eventually.

We are getting close to a public release of fzedit.  It can edit nearly every component of fzeros levels currently, and has been used to create 1 to 1 demakes of the gba fzeros. More information and release date of the Maximum Velocity demake coming soon.

Grego, has anyone yet recreated the BS F-Zero GP2 content which we have video of, but not preserved data, Metal Fort and Forest?

Grego

Porthor is working on forest recreations, so it's in development.

Duuuuuude... That was justly what I was about to ask for!
An F-Zero that has cars and tracks from both SNES versions, that is already amazing. But with GBA F-Zeros demakes... That will be SPETACULAR!!!

Forgive me on bumping this post as a wonderful individual directed me towards this thread.

Thank you for creating this utility as many of us wanting, or doing, an F-Zero project needs something very diverse

Combining F-Zero with Grand Prix 2 is such a great idea! Unfortunately the gui patcher seems to be bugged (it won't produce a patched rom, even though it says it's doing that).

I'll give as much detail as I can so it's hopefully easier to figure out what's going wrong. I made sure both roms were named correct, in the f-zero_final_patcher-master folder with FZFinal_Patcher.exe, and both had the correct CRCs.

What happened when hitting Patch is this:
1 F-Zero.sfc was deleted.
2 F-Zero_Grand_Prix_2.sfc was not deleted.
3 There was a message that said
"F-Zero Final patching was successful, created file:
C:\f-zero_final_patcher-master\\F-Zero_Final.sfc"
4 But there was no F-Zero_Final.sfc in the folder, or anywhere.

I copied F-Zero.sfc back into the folder and ran FZFinal_Patcher.exe again. The same thing happened.

I noticed there's two \\ right before F-Zero_Final.sfc in that message. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it not creating F-Zero_Final.sfc.

I then tried running apply_patch.bat instead--with the same roms--and that seems to have worked fine (I might have been wrong about that, see post edit at the end). But FZFinal_Patcher.exe is not putting out a patched rom for some reason. All it's doing is deleting one of the unpatched roms.

Edit: I'm getting a black screen when trying to select the BS vehicles and when trying to start the Ace league. Is there a specific emulator that's needed to work properly? I can only use Snes9xGX and Snes9xRX on the Wii right now because my pc is having problems. Both of those are having the black screen problems.

This is awesome, I was looking for something exactly like this. I have just one suggestion for a future version: it feels kind of weird to play as a BS vehicle alongside 3 original ones, especially at the starting line where your car can be in the "wrong" position for its acceleration curve, alongside another car with very similar acceleration. I think having all CPU cars be BS cars if you pick a BS car would feel closer to the original experience, since that's how all the BS games were. Either as the default, or maybe as another option, fit in the newly-empty space between the league and difficulty selections. "Rivals: Original/BS" or something like that.

phils3r

May I ask a stupid question?
I only have two Satellaview files not a *.sfc with the desired checksum. Is there a patch to combine the both to have the resulting files for creating this ROM out of F-Zero (USA) and the combined file.

Atariboy

How do I select one of the additional vehicles? My rom is presumably patched correctly since the league selection menu is altered from the original rom, Ace League is available, and it starts with Mute City IV.

Edit: Nevermind, I figured out how to do it (The shoulder buttons let you swap carsets).

Snowmeow

I patched successfully and played F-Zero Final. Amazing work!
And I heard that Maximum Velocity tracks are being demaked in FZEdit. I hardly can wait for this!
Two questions, if I'm not being annoying:

1-Will these demaked tracks use their original tilesets or will be used SNES original tilesets?
2-Will F-Zero GP Legends and F-Zero Climax tracks be demaked too?

PowerPanda

I know at one point this project was hoping to remake the tracks "Forest I", "Forest II", "Forest III", "Metal Fort I", and "Metal Fort II" from BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2. Did that ever gain any traction?

Dude, What I can say is, good news are coming.

PowerPanda

To show my continued support for this project, I have whipped up some cover art for it, so it can be added to emulation frontends. I created 2 versions, one advertising 20 tracks, and the other advertising 25, as a future-proof in case the Forest and Metal Fort tracks just happen to magically show up in the future.  :P

Excellent job on the box arts, they both came out great.

If the Forest and Metal Fort tracks are added in the future, the league for them should be called Joker League, I also think this should the music track for Metal Fort as well: https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm28767967

Did you want me to edit the box art to reflect the name? I could make it F-Zero Final VS, F-Zero Versus, or even F-Zero VS.

Also, did you ever add in the Metal Fort and Forest tracks?

Grego

Vs is a standalone experience, so I don't think it really needs its own box art, but have at it if you want. Several people are working on recreating the missing tracks, when they are available we will include them in fzfinal and vs.
