:o The project that you gave us to pay attention to looks very solid. I hope it doesn't get abandoned halfway through.

P.S. I saw that the author took up the marble Zone. It looks interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tti5yzR9F9Q

Good news, Woring allowed me to incorporate some of the characteristics of its hack into this project!!!

• Improvements in Sonic's jump, when he jumps on a dock it no longer moves forward, and when it falls it will automatically become a ball.
• Springs now have sound effects, although they are currently recycled from other actions in the game.
• Some aspects of the levels are tweaked to further reduce user frustration.

If you have played the game just by looking at this image you will realize how much the hack has improved

On the other hand, I take the opportunity to recommend another related YouTube channel, it does not have many videos, but you can see that it is a very talented person, look at this wonder Link

"Folding into a ball immediately when we fall. There is no pushing forward as there was before." It sounds like a well-chosen pattern of deflection from a *Stray bullet*. How will it be in your project, sics, I would look at it  ::)

Killing that enemy while falling spinning lol, looks a feature that even Sonic Mania doesn't thought to made.

Man, I love seeing a lot of changes being made for this game.
You're doing a great job sics!

By the way, here's a video that you'll enjoy... see you later.  :)

Thanks, I promise it will be worth the wait, this will not be another update!

Don't comment on it, but I work at NASA part time

I'm the first "like" in that video, I've literally seen all Somari's videos on the Internet, I think I have to find a life :D

Not as much as Vol. 3, but Woring's great gesture has motivated me a lot:

  • Create new complementary blocks.
  • I did a lot of tinkering on Green Hill.
  • I fixed the graphical glitch of the continue screen.
  • Improved the navigation controls on the "Level Select" and "Continue" screen.
  • Now Sonic goes ball when he bounces off the star springs.
And I am working to fix the issues that prevented my custom screen from being possible:

Update, for the moment I have overwritten part of the data of the level selection screen to test if everything works correctly, I hope that after optimizing the data I can add it without problems.

If you are curious how it is left I leave you a sample that You can apply in my hack, be careful it is not finished yet

I tried the sample right now... and so far, it looks pretty good! However, there doesn't seem to be any tinkering, the navigation controls, the spin dash being fixed, or a few other improvements or any additional content just yet, but it's okay! The sample was pretty good since the custom title screen you worked on looks more like a true port of Sonic 1 even with the Sega logo.

However, there's no text shown in the level selection screen and I had to figure out which level was either Green Hill Zone, Marble Zone, Spring Yard Zone, Labyrinth Zone, Star Light Zone, Final Zone, or the Special Stage. But overall, the sample was still good and I'm looking forward to the biggest update sooner or later.

Sorry, this patch is just for people to give feedback on the title screen now that I can still make changes

In the future, when everything works as it should, you can download the full version by the usual means

Used this patch for the hack that came out earlier. In General, I was fascinated by this. This title screen is very good. It looks like a real port     The only reason I can see the pixels in the area of the mountain not fully drawn or they are broken pixels... and also - in the left part, closer to the middle - a strip of pixels flashes... Breaking the graphics... I don't think it was meant to be  :-\

I have tested the game on all the emulators that I know of and the error you mention could only be reproduced on old or inaccurate emulators.

This is produced by a bad overlap in the cut area between the two parts that make up the title screen, but I must also mention that this problem is found in the same way in the original version of the game, only that it is concealed by filling in said sector of a solid color.

Personally, it seems like a very vulgar solution, so I prefer to wait and see if that happens on real hardware ;)

On the other hand I just finished a simplified version of the "Zone Selector", although I am not convinced of the key layout, it is quite functional And since I never lose hope I hid enough space to write "Scrap Brain".

What I couldn't help but notice is the horrible color transition that the game has when switching screens:

At first I thought that it would be enough to modify the palette so that the white color was located in another position, but when doing so, the same thing continued to happen with white, I imagine it must be a residue of a discarded feature, perhaps they would have planned to reuse this screen in some way in the level selector, since their data continues to be loaded when entering this secret menu, which does not happen in the rest of the transitions with this itself.

Anyway, I would like to find a way to disable that function, since it is not aesthetic at all, so if someone has the knowledge to give me a hand I would be eternally grateful

They told me that Sonic's skin tone was not correct, so I made the following modification, but since I can't distinguish some colors, I don't know if it's right, what do you think?

Now I see. Mesen 0.9.9 and Freux 2.2.3 -  inaccurate emulators. Weak, old emulator - VirtuaNES - does not show the flashing bar. I tested it on these - and that's why I said about this strange graphics error.

now much better the color skin, sics

sics, the new title screen looks amazing! You did such an incredible job!

Supergamerguy

I just want to say that I don't think the poll is accurate as of now (3 against, 2 for), as just about everybody who's actually taken the time to comment has expressed 100% positive views (and I am with the people congratulating on the Title screen, I think it looks absolutely Incredible, something that I never thought could be achieved on NES hardware).

We go by parts as Ripper would say

First thanks for all the feedback on the new title screen, it really was a tough road to achieve this goal

About the survey, I have decided to leave the new title screen by default and include a patch to revert it to its original state for whoever wants it.

On the other hand, if this new update is well received, I plan to create more material such as a custom title screen for Somari, so it would be great if you spread the word so that the hack reaches more people.

Regarding the error report of diablo666, I already solved the problem and even fixed another bug that you had reported before, which I confused with one that I already knew

What happened is that I do not use Mesen, nor the "new PPU" of Fceux, so I was not able to notice what you mentioned, so I ask that when someone wants to report a problem, if possible they accompany their report with any screenshot or supporting material, thank you very much!

tygerbug

Would white, rather than peach, be a better color for Sonic's in-game sprite?

SuperStarFox

To sics: sics, your idea on leaving the title screen by default would be a better idea. But seeing custom title screens for the other bootleg games like Somari would look perfect.

To tygerbug: Ummmmm, tygerbug? I don't really think white would look good on Sonic's in-game sprites.  :-\
