Thanks so much pacnsacdave.  I've been hoping somebody would translate this game ever since I first found out about it.

Just in case anybody is having a hard time trying to find a matching CRC to what was provided on the patch page, you have to find the "(No Bug)" version and you'll have the matching CRC of B4C8012D.

Final CRC should be 4DFFD969. :)

EDIT:  I won't post the page here since it has the bug fixed rom, but after testing this out I can verify that the bug fixed version or the translation that uses it will not play on most emulators.  It won't work currently on NestopiaX or MednafenX for the XBox.  It does, however, play on lr-fceumm on the RetroPie.

According to the place I got it, it only works on a modified version of VirtuaNES called VirtuaNESex and FCEUX 2.2.0.

It sounds like the rom that is not bug fixed suffered from randomly crashing all the time, so I haven't bothered testing this rom on the non fixed dump that will play on most emulators as I won't have time to play it all the way through and make sure there weren't any problems.

firedropdl, I need help. Yesterday I started to translate this version into Russian, but I don't know this game and not played the port, so I would like to get answers to some questions that arise.
What kind of security door in the lobby, right? As featured in the game data of the phrase: \"baby\", \"old man\", \"dead\" and so on?

firedropdl

I'm not sure what you're asking me lancuster.  Are you asking me two questions?  Are you asking if the door on the right in the lobby is a security door?

I haven't played the original PSX game since it came out in the late 90's, so my memory of that will be very foggy.  I haven't had time to play this game because I've been working a lot and doing some projects with emulation.

I wish you luck in your translation project.  Hopefully somebody here plays the English translation soon and can give you the answers that you're looking for.

would be cool if there was an optional patch for also changing the title screen to Resident Evil

I'll think about it.

firedropdl, I found a lot of mistakes in translation. It also ignores punctuation, direct speech is not marked.

I too would love to see a Resident Evil title screen.

As for the quality of the translation I can't speak to it since I haven't played more than a minute or two to test that it works.  There are probably translation mistakes in nearly all of the games that have a lot of dialogue.  None of these people were paid to do the job and I think it's amazing that they're even translated at all.

As far as punctuation, I think that could possibly be due to the way that it was coded originally.  I know that sometimes the patch authors have to take shortcuts given the original rom they're working with.  Maybe you could argue that point since you're actively hacking yourself.  That's way above my pay grade.  :)

Чувак, он не переводил игру. :D

I would suggest asking pacnsacdave about these things, but I don't think the guy writes much on the forum.

If you wanna reach out to pacnsacdave, he runs his own facebook group.

Sweet!  Did he make that just recently, or was it there the whole time?  I didn't even notice it before.

Man, are you guys talking at cross purposes or what?

lancuster

Psyklax, I mean that English title patch is mine. :)

firedropdl

Awesome man.  Thanks.  It's downloaded and ready to go.  Can't wait to try it out.  :)

I've created a box and cart image for this game from an HD photograph of the box, cart and manual on the bootleg wiki.  When I patch this I'll upload them here for everyone.

Yeah.  It's awesome buddy.  Thanks.  :)

Hey. I've never had any luck contacting pacnsacdave before, and the Facebook link doesn't work for me.  If anybody ever talks to him, maybe they can ask him if he has any plans on translating another Chinese bootleg called Dark Seed.  It's a really cool DOS game that they ported to the NES.  If I had to compare it to any officially released game, it would be King's Quest V.  It has a much, much darker subject matter though and the artwork for the game was done by H.R. Giger who did the Xenomorphs from Aliens and a lot of other trippy art.  I figured since he's a fan of Resident Evil and he seems to be the resident Chinese translator he might like to take a crack at this one.  He probably already knows it exists since he's done translations for games I'd never heard of like the Pinocchio one, but you never know.  These things are all pretty obscure.

Any chance you could please re-up this?  I just ran across this and would love to have the title screen say Resident Evil!

RealGaea

I second that. A translation is very appreciated, but I can't dig it without the localized name.

Re-up the Resident Evil title patch, please!
