And at the end of the video - does this mean that the sound is still not working correctly? Or a bug of the emulator? The code to fail? :o

what do you mean?  at the end of the video the clock runs out and the old music starts again.  there's some graphic glitches in the video but it's just compression artifacts

I asked because of what I saw at the end - broken pixels, so I clarified. Sorry if the question was incorrectly asked...  :-\

been banging away... now your game progress is automatically saved and you can have three save game.  I even added a save game selection menu like super mario world.. here's some video

I've only seen it in Kirby Adventure. It will be interesting to try it out

frantik

Added an optional "speedrunner" mode which doesn't use a save slot and displays your gameplay time at the end of each castle.  I'm hoping this game will be at least a little popular among streamers and speed runners

frantik

Added a hidden WORLD ZERO for super players

There are so many bug fixes, improvements and new features in this hack.  The original version feels like an incomplete beta.. this DELUXE edition is the vision I had back in 2005 when I first started.. it only took 15 years!

Release date will be November 21, 2020 which is the 30th anniversary of Super Mario World  :woot!: :woot!: :woot!:

Awesome! I'll be counting the days!
How well hidden is this world 0?

It's not super hidden, but you do have to beat the game first to access it.  I'm going to include a "strategy guide" type document that lists all the secrets and whatnot

diablo666

How complex will the world of Zero be? What conditions are required to open it? Is it tied to the "Special Mario coins"?   ::)

All will be revealed in the "Strategy Guide" which will be included with the ROM.  But no you don't have to collect a certain amount of Mario coins to access World Zero

one final teaser before the release this weekend!

Hey I just downloaded the hack & I really dig it!

I just wanna give you a heads up that when you step on the Goomba, the original Goomba SMB sprite when it's stomped is still in the hack, it'll look better if you use the SMB3 Goomba sprite when it's been stomped on. But so far I like what I'm playing so far.

Dang I knew that that sprite was still from SMB1 but for some reason I thought in smb3 that goombas didn't get squished but rather just fell off the screen.. I'll have to sneak that change in, thanks for the heads up on that.  Glad you're enjoying

Update: ok v2.01 is in the queue, adds the SMB3 squished goomba sprite.  Can't belive I didn't even think to check by playing smb3 again real quick

v2.01 is up now, if you were one of the first ~400 or so people to download on the first day ( ), go grab the new version!

That's some pretty extensive hype, anticipation and write-up for a hack that currently has nothing but negative reviews on it that both label it as "Not Recommended."

I mean, i'm not the only one who thinks that's weird, right?

For such a much talked about remastering of a famous, well-known romhack that has been heralded as one of the most impressive accomplishments in the community, featured on Cinemassacre, and has such clear and obvious work done on it, so far it's official reception can be called "Entirely Negative" at this point.

I did try to hype up the release but you're right, the response has been pretty lackluster.

I am surprised that there have only been two reviews so far, both of which are quite negative.  Both of those players warped to late in the game and then complained about the difficulty level.  I described the hack as ramping up from beginner to expert, so anyone who is not an expert is going to eventually reach a point where the game surpasses their skill level.  I would hope even players who were not able to beat the game would still recommend the game to others, as there is still plenty of content for beginniers to enjoy in the early worlds.

I did tone down the difficulty in this release, removing some stuff that was too close to "frame perfect" or heavily based on RNG, and added more hidden power ups, but there are still some tricky jumps that require a bit of practice and/or figuring out the trick to it.  I am not a pro-level Mario player or anything so the later levels are tough for me too..

If you enjoyed the game please add a review to the site!  :woot!:

Vanya

I've only played the first few levels so far and they seemed fine considering I was playing on my keyboard. As soon as I have some time to play some more and with a proper controller I'll do my write up for it.
So far I would definitely recommend it just for it having a very fresh feel to the game play and cleverly designed levels.

Captain N

So far, I am very impressed.
The fact that I've been struggling all day with a very rudimentary text hack, I cannot even begin to fathom the amount of work it must have taken to make all of it work.

I haven't made it all the way through yet but I suspect I'll get around to that later this week.
