I've been working on a hack since August of last year, and it's coming together perfectly! The hack is almost completed (Close to being finished actually). I've made it very challenging, and the second quest is gonna be like no other 2nd quest!

THE HACK FEATURES -
Brand new graphics
An entirely from scratch new overworld
The Auto-mapping feature (Thanks to snarfblam)
A great story
Dark Link
And Finally All NEW completely changed dungeon layouts!

It should be way better than my last hack CXSZELDA, although it's good, the new one is a lot better in my opinion!

Oh hey aren't you the one who made Zelda - Triforce Of Courage :o? ultimaweapon great job on your hack! I've played it a few days ago and it was pretty awesome! I'm almost done beating it.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. My first ever hack, so I struggled to make it as good as I could.

I had enjoyed the CXSZELDA, so if you're new hack is going to top it, I know I will thoroughly enjoy it.  ;D

Screens look great so far, when I get outta my ROM Hacking slump, I'll poke at my Z1 hack. it's about 1% complete though...

RetroNuva10

Looking pretty neato! I like most of the art changes, and for some reason the rocks and such look much more 3D here than in the original Zelda (NES). Did you make the title screen? It looks really cool.

I can't wait until this releases! Keep up the good work.

The3Dude

Thanks! Yeah I made the rocks more detailed, kinda like a 16bit game or SNES game. Every single tile of graphics has been edited, AND GOSH IT TOOK FOREVER MAKING THE GRAPHICS ~seriously I almost gave up the hack because the graphics took so long, I'm talking {4 months tops}!!  Link was so annoying to edit because he looked too clunky so I ended up making him look like Link's awakening Link but Zelda 1 styled.
It should be released by tomorrow or sunday. I just finished editing all of the 2nd Quest dungeons(TOOK FOREVER THOUGH). I'm just trying to change the dungeon palette's(They're pretty glitchy) then it'll be done! ;) And yes I did make the Title screen ;D It took me a week & a half to make it, so I'm glad to hear it looks great! lol.

Ok guys! UPDATE! For Link's Shadow there were a few things that slipped through like a ninja. I just updated the rom to v1.1. Still if anyone finds any bugs in the ROM please ~EMAIL ME~

Thank you! The3Dude

The3Dude -  I just started playing your hack yesterday, and I don't know if I patched the wrong version of the rom or if my controller is faulty, or if there's a bug, but every time I move in a sudden up or down direction especially down, it automatically drops a bomb. Several times, all my bombs were used up before I left out of an area. Do you know if this is a bug, or if it's just on my end?

The3Dude

You need to patch to Zelda Prg0 not prg1. I have no idea why that's happening though. Most likely a faulty controller.

Other games were playing fine, so I probably patched the wrong version. I didn't get too far. I only had bombs, arrows, and brought the wooden sword, and found the 1st 2 dungeons. I should have the right one already on my computer, so I'll repatch and try it again.

No fun running around without at least the boomerang, but there are enough secret coin locations to help you acquire enough to buy the Wooden Sword. I know to expect a lot, since you have a bomb upgrade in dungeon 2. :)

Once I can repatch and get a complete play through, I'll be sure to give a review.

Cool, and thank you! Also the second quest was a little bugged that's why this ---> http://www.romhacking.net/submissions/QueueStatus/ ... Be sure to update once it releases!

BTW, I'm working on an update to mine that will change the color of Link's tunic as well decrease the difficulty of palace 2 down some. Once I finish getting the tunic color working well w/ no glitches, I'll submit the update.

Yes indeed. Hopefully I'll have it done within a week.

I have some ambitious ideas for a new Zelda 2 hack once I learn how to change the pallet colors of both the overworld and palaces 1-6.

Dude I'm the best with palettes! Just get fceux 2.2.3 go to ppu viewer, then edit them by searching up their palettes in the emulator.

I have FCEUX 2.2.3, so I'm going to take a look into this when I get home this evening.

QuoteDude I'm the best with palettes! Just get fceux 2.2.3 go to ppu viewer, then edit them by searching up their palettes in the emulator.

What he said. Use FCEUX, go to the area that you want to change the palette of, hover your cursor over the 4-color-palette that you want to change, search (Ctrl+F) for those 4 HEX values in the Hex Editor of FCEUX, then change them to what you want.

There are the various HEX values for the colors.

Sometimes the game "won't let you" change the palettes of parts of the game. An example of this is on the Zelda 1 title screen. This is because the palette is constantly being updated and changed to different palettes. Luckily, you can find this rapid-fire updating in HEX! Usually the palette-switching will exclude the first color (since it's 95% of the time black, or whatever color the sky/default background is). However, make sure to keep in mind that changing one palette might unexpectedly change the colors of other parts of the game. (Like how the red palette and blue palette for the overworld monsters in Zelda 1 is shared with the red and blue tunic respectively, among other examples). If (in the example of Zelda 1) you need the tunics to change color but not the monsters (or visa versa), you can change the palette assignment. Sometimes there are documents listing these palette assignments on websites (like Data Crystal). If not, you'll have to do it the hard way, searching through the HEX by hand.

The3Dude

Hey Retro if you need any help with your hack I would love to help! I'm dying to hack more!
