You should be able to make the sfrom for Star Ocean the same as used for the English Translation, you have to use sfromtool and use Dark Akuma's VC patch for the game http://darkakuma.z-net.us/p/sfromtool.html#Patches and select the ips and you should end up with a working sfrom

I did what you said and the same result, like the creator says: this translation is very different from DeJap's one...

You're going to have to contact Dark Akuma then he made the graphics patch

Dark's graphics patch isn't just for the DeJap translation, it's for Star Ocean in general. It follows Nintendo's method of getting Street Fighter Alpha 2 working. It shouldn't break on Magno's translation, especially because Magno was in touch with Dark during development. I'll give it a go myself.

Edit: Having tested it, it looks like Magno has altered far too much. So while the graphics pack, designed for the Japanese ROM, works perfectly with DeJap's translation too, it looks like you're out of luck here.

Guessing Magno moved all the graphics pointers, which the DeJap one did not.

Edit2: Oh I see. Having read a Google Translate version of his page, I think I get the idea. Dark's patch works like Nintendo's SFA2 patch in that it uses the .sfrom format to "bypass" SDD-1 decompression. This is a feature of the .sfrom format that only SFA2 used, but worked fine with Star Ocean too. What Magno has done is make an all-in-one expanded ROM that includes the graphics. This is different from using .sfrom to bypass the SDD-1, and just like the big expanded DeJap translation out there, this won't work properly with the SNES Mini.

TLDR, his patch bakes the graphics into the ROM itself, but this is not how SDD-1 support on SNES Mini works.

Here's a fun one i did quickly hope someone gets a kick out of this, Canoe fix for Blizzard's free release of Rock N' Roll Racing (for anyone trying to build a legit rom collection):

ROCK.BIN.ips - (based on rock2a.ips original patch for full Rock N' Roll Racing (U)

Fixes C7 error, invisible Title Screen and Menus

Download Blizzard Classic Rock N' Roll Racing
https://us.battle.net/account/download/?show=classic

Extract ROCK.BIN and patch save as ROCK.SMC (or whatever) BEFORE you add to Hakchi2.

Nice one nibbles. :)

Interestingly, the ROM has been stripped of music. Presumably to avoid copyright.

Actually it's more than that.

- New Blizzard Classic splash screen
- Can only play as Snake
- No car customisation or selection
- Only the first three levels available
- No music

What an odd release.

I wonder if the copies of The Lost Vikings and Blackthorne ROMs they have available for download are also heavily butchered.

Also I love the irony of removing the music from a game called Rock n Roll racing lmao.

Sadly those aren't even the SNES versions, they are PC versions that run in DOSBox.

In the current climate regarding ROM distribution sites as of late, and sluffy being hit with a cease and desist, I don't think I'm alone with thinking we are so lucky we got fixes for as many games as we did before shit hit the fan. I have 118 SNES titles on my classic, all of which run natively in Canoe thanks to Sluffy and everyone involved in this thread.

I have the same opinion. I don't like Retroarch so when I found this thread I couldn't believe you found fixes for games like Rock n' Roll Racing or Uniracers. Still I check this thread hoping sluffy's back or anyone to fixing some known games such as Ogre Battle or Bust-a-Move. Thanks to everyone for your time and dedication.

The same here. I have 200 games in my SNESmini of which, thanks to this thread, I just need to use retroarch in three of them.
Thousands of thanks to Sluffy and to everyone committed to the great work that is done here

For me is working fine with the audio fix patch, make sure you are using a ROM without header (CRC: 8D4DF815)

Turned out it was actually a corrupt flash drive.  :/

Thank you!

Ya for ROCK.BIN.ips I hadn’t tested out the whole game yet, knew the menu, title were working and fixed the C7 error following the format of the original patch just thought Blizzard had removed car customization and the music for copyright reasons.

If you look at the patch you will see it required very little it was a start. That’s sad releasing a classic more so as a demo oh well.

I had only tried the first two levels (even though there are only three !( saw the wrong coloured graphics after the race were fixed as well and figured I would release it. I seem to have a bit of a bad habit of not thoroughly testing.
