Dragon Knight 4 (Japan) (1016)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/irp25y

Looking for hires gamma problems

Lufia 2 = idk. Canoe is behaving badly, not responding to 2 working methods even with 1068.

Atlas, The - Renaissance Voyager (Japan) (Rev 1) (NP) (1016)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/qp7tfh

Another hires (inverse) gamma on map.

Hmm, SupaSAIAN, I'm not getting the same results as you are.
Not sure what could have happened, maybe I did something wrong?

My results:

atlas1 + 1016. (Rev 0)
The bottom UI now displays, but the text that is displayed on the bottom UI is incorrect.

For example, the currency appeared as 200, and when I spent 3000 of the currency, it would reduce to 170 and so forth.
Until it got to 100 where it would wrap back around to 200.

Definitely on the right track with this one though, got the bottom UI to at least display!

dragon4 + 1016
The text boxes appear to be correct gamma now, unfortunately the menu screen is still the same.

The "cursor" in text boxes is now visible as well though!
I spoke to the man at the beginning of the game that gives you choices in the text box, it correctly displays the brightness/darkness of the choices.
The hovered choice is bright, while the other choices are dark.

It looks like the menu screen background is layering above the blending effects.
I can still hear the cursor move and can still select any option with zero issues.

Good start with this one though, I didn't see any text boxes with high gamma!

EDIT:

I might have used the rev 0 Atlas, will try again and report back.

Alright, I did, in fact, use the Rev 0 Atlas. That was my mistake. I apologize for that.

atlas1 + 1016. (Rev 1)
Success!
The bottom UI properly displays!

Strange, what ID did you put in Hakchi (not SFROMtool) 1610 or 1016??

In Dragon Knight 4 is your gamma in text boxes like in my screenshots??

If your answer is yes its incrased, compare the gamma with the videos in YouTube.

Also check if the cursor in the text boxes appears, to do that speak with the guy inside in the house next to where you start to control the character.

Thanks the fix works fine, also "Dragon Quest I & II" and "Dragon Quest V" has the same overscan problem when resuming game from main menu.

That's strange. Why are the games doing that? The borders perfectly fit 256x224 games and those games you are mentioning are all 256x224, the only way they they could go out of bounds is if their size are increased but I don't see anything being stretched in the Ys4 pic you posted.

When you launch the games they look fine, the overscan problem comes when you press reset to go to main menu and then resume the game.
I can make a video to show you what I mean if you want.
In the Ys4 picture the border and the background doesn't help, but believe me the overscan problem is there.

No I understand, why I mean is why is it doing that. For that to happen Canoe needs to stretch the games and I saw no stretching on your Ys4 image.

In Ys4 the issuse without fix is from the begining in the clean japan rom and from when you resume game with the english translated one, in DQ1&2 and DQ5 is from when you resume game in clean and translated versions if I remember well...

For Lufia 2 I can add that the healing spell "Rally" is also affected by the visual error. This can be used for easy testing of patches because you simply can go into any battle and cast the spell to look if it got fixed.

EDIT: I tried the DQ5 overscan fix and it's like SupaSAIAN said. With patch issue doesn't happen any more when resuming game. (tested on english byuu translation)

Thanks for confirming it.
Maybe we also have to check for that strange issuse when we are testing ROMs.

Hmm, I tried again from scratch. I deleted all of my previous files and re-patched the game.
I made sure that the Preset ID was 1016 (1610 in Hakchi2).
And I got the same results as I did previously.
Am I crazy? What's going on?

I also went ahead and tested the Rev 1 of Atlas, which I updated my previous post to reflect.

So the UI for Atlas worked for pimpin but not for Supa?

What's going on?

I will retest both games when I get back home, maybe who did something wrong was me...

The Atlas - Renaissance Voyager (Japan) (Rev 0)
Preset ID 1016
https://www.sendspace.com/file/s5lt0z

Rev 0 and Rev 1 are slightly different, so requires a different patch for each.
This is the exact same fix that Sluffy created, just applied in the correct spot for Rev 0.

As always, another awesome job Sluffy!

I’m playing Ogre Battle with the preset ID 0000 (hakchi2) and no notice any issue. However, in the Robin64’s SNES Compatibility list is marked the preset ID 10B8 for Ogre Battle. Which preset ID is recomended to use? Thanks in advance.

Some IDs at Robin64's SNES Mini Compatibility List are wrong.
For example there is Bahamut Lagoon with ID 10F8 and gives C7 error to me, I have to run the DeJap translated ROM with ID 0000...

Menu cursor is kinda like pseudo-gradient. Try adding backdrop to blender. 2 testers.
