Goldeneye N64 Timming?

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this one. From what I understand the game engine uses CPU timing for game timing. In so the game speed is directly proportionate to CPU speed. Do you think there would be anyway to influence this relation and say make the home game clock run quicker or slower? The reason I am asking is I am playing with over clocking the system and would like to slow the game back down to the speed that it is intended to run at. Thanks
