Super Mario Bros. NES - standing Spiny?
« on: August 07, 2017, 05:21:02 pm »

While using ISD SMB Utility I put a Spiny in a level as a test and then it didn't walk, but just stood. What causes this? Due to the lack of the Lakitu?

Tell me.

i always had that problem but if you raise it one block high off the ground it will behave normally. you can utilize this into like a spiny that stands still in a obstacle like i did in luigis first quest what i did was placed one on top of a set of blocks standing still so you had to go under the blocks instead of over them. I believe if you put a spiny and it also puts a lakitu and you only want the spiny put a stop continuation and it should remove the lakitu. Eden.GT is more intelligent on this subject though.

Like many other unused enemies in SMB, it's a very unstable enemy. "The init routine of the spiny is set to InitEnemyFrenzy,  which also triggers the Lakitu." There's usually unexpected results of the stray Spiny's speed, ranging from stationary, very slow, normal moving to very fast moving; as well as hitbox properties.
