Wh-wh... where's the old, classic site?!  This is intentional?!  Oh my god!  I thought my connection was doing that thing where it fails to load a CSS style sheet, so the page loads up in plain text format!  Wah!!

Hyperbole aside, I can honestly say I do not like this theme.  It's "sterile," it has no personality, the forum looks generic, and the front page is squished and clunky at 1280 1366px width.  And, actually... the site looks a little better at a more narrow resolution as the right-hand boxes on the front page get stacked into one column.  The default forum theme is also very bright and changing it to a darker one doesn't (yet?) appear to carry over to the main site... which is also very bright.

I know time is ever-progressing and things need to change for this-reason-or-that, but I'm really hoping that more work is done on the default themes to give it more of that familiar personality of the old site.

Edit: For the curious, you can change your forum theme back to the old classic theme ("romh"), as well as others, by going into the theme picker under your Profile.

Monitor brightness or color can be adjusted in your Operating System, Graphics Driver, or Monitor settings.

I'm guessing he would prefer more options for the site. I finally managed to give the forums the Metroid theme but the main site is still blue and white. I prefer the Metroid theme because white text on a black background is much easier on the eyes than black text on a white background which can strain the eyes after a while.

Doesn't the main site have themes? I recall the web developer "keeping the most popular themes" when the old new change happened. Does the newest revision not have themes?

Sorry about that, just trying to help.
It would really help if they weren't tucked away like that.

Looks like the Forum HTML that displays user avatars inside a circle doesn't like avatars that aren't squares.

Had no issues getting the darker themes for the forums back, but can't seem to figure out how to get it back for the main site.

I'd probably like the newer themes if it had some darker variations. And yes,  know, darken the monitor does not really make me happy because I'd prefer darker colors for the background.

AxlRocks

I like it for the most part, but a couple things I'm not liking so much:

I'm also throwing in a vote for a dark, alternate version. These days, darker themes are a lot easier on my eyes. Users can always go back to the older themes, but I do like most of the new additions to 3.0. I already built my own dark theme last night using Stylish for the main site (and 90% of the forum), but I'm sure some users would like a prominent "Night Mode" button built into the site.

(I also reduced font size a bit and the top and bottom border of #top.)

The random translations. I think that would be 100% more useful if you could set a language preference. It's not going to do me any good to see Spanish and Arabic translations, and vice versa.

One last thing that's kind of unrelated and been around a while: the screenshots page using bilinear filtering on scaled images. Though now(or always and I didn't realize?) you can click to reduce the image to its original size, maybe it's just my crappy eyes again but I prefer it being scaled up. Just without filtering because that kind of defeats the purpose. I did a quick, dirty fix for this using Stylish again to add "image-rendering: pixelated" to images only on screenshot pages, but I think most users would prefer nearest neighbor as default anyway.

Same here. I like the new layout of the main site and forum but when I select the Metroid theme the forum has the old layout and the main site is unchanged. The new layout with the Metroid theme colors would be cool enough for me.

I didn't see the left sidebar either, but if you zoom out it will eventually appear. I guess it's designed for bigger screens.
But two sidebars on the right side, I think that's a bit too much.

One other suggestion, have the name of the hack pop up when hovering over a random picture (like a little label, I forgot what those are called xD).

Edit: Tooltips! Thanks Google

Two nitpicks:

1. The main page looks pretty cluttered now. I'd drop one of the columns in favour of centering the main column and sidebar.
2. Some of the new 'at a glance' sections aren't really that valuable; 'Recent Updates' includes things like avatar updates for...some reason.
Along with the bright theme idea, also I think a better goal would be taking columns from the forums.

More two major complaints: the CSS menu suffers from "sliding" (keep going out of focus), if you raise the default font width you will notice it immediately; the mobile theme for the forums is not showing the most recent posts information, what is not so bad but annoying. We need to know! :D

I reset my browser zoom to 100% and the theme option appeared. I changed to RHDN Pro and zoomed back in. Looks about the same as ever before.

Tsuki why are you yelling?
Didn't really yell, just emphasized something that was not mentioned.

And changing the Forum theme only works permanently for forum, the main site reverts to the new awful style as soon as you leave it.

Mugi

it stays for me.
it sets a cookie for the theme, is your browser set for accepting/keeping them ?

Lol, so, I just found out how to get it. I, too, was missing the left column, so I tried zooming out just one tick on the front page, guess what, left column. Definitely something that needs a fix!

I (and I think a couple people before me) figured it out.  The updated site, on the default theme, requires users to have a display with greater than 1366 px (which is my laptop's maximum display width) to see the left sidebar.  Alternately, zooming out to 90% in Google Chrome seemed to do it, for me.  Changing the theme from RNDH Boss to RNDH Pro changed the site back to what it was before, but for those who are curious, yes, the Metroid theme is still there and fully-compatible with the new HTML5/CSS3 backend!  At least, as far as I can tell.

So... yeah!  The new theme is not exactly ideal and I would have gotten used to it, but I'm infinitely happy that I don't even have to!  Yay!

Edit: Changing the site theme also changes the forum theme, just like always. (You can still set the forum theme independently of the site theme, though.)
